Last place in the AL Central. Thats about the right place for the Royals. They always play really well in late August and September, though. If they can step it up another month or so before that they may contend for 4th, but I'm not holding my breath.

Where they should be: Right where they are for the moment, close to the lead, if not actually leading. Chicago, Minnesota, Detriot, and Cleveland all have a legitimate shot at winning the AL Central. So long as it remains close, Chicago can easily win the division, as long as today's "murderer's row" (Thome, Konerko, and Dye) keep the offensive numbers up, and our starters and bullpen continue to pitch well, but the AL Central is the league's best division, and as early as it is, there's no way to tell for sure who is going to win it.
