Wow. I'm not sure if they keep a record on league ERA and WHIP.

Alright, I couldn't find any League Averages so I did it myself.
AL ERA = 4.02
NL ERA = 3.98

AL WHIP = 1.30
NL WHIP = 1.36

so there are your differences.
Not a really big difference ERA wise between the leagues...just .04 difference.
Whip shows a .06 difference between the leagues.

AL has slightly better WHIP while NL has slightly better ERA

Keep in mind that these figures are for all games through 24 April 2007.

What do the initials VUK stand for on the Philadelphia Phillies shirts?

It's hard to determine definitive numbers, but the general consensus seems to be that an average AL pitcher will have an ERA about a point or so higher than an average NL pitcher. Oddly enough, I think the average WHIP actually isn't that much different, maybe .1 or .2 difference w/ the AL being higher.
