Who is the greatest closer of all time?
Question:
Answers:
How many people are looking forward to the day that Barry Bonds breaks the all time homerun record?
In the modern era I'd have to say Mariano Rivera.P.S. Yankees SUCK!
Isn't it too premature for people to get excited about a-rod of the yankees?
Mariano Rivera hands down. He did it during the season but made his money in October. He turned Yankee games into 8 inning affairs for over a decade. If it wasn't for John Wetteland blocking from the closers role early on he could easily be the all time saves leader. As much as I dislike the Yankees, Mo is the clear choice for closers.Mariano Rivera without question.
Who has the best starting pitching in each division?
Clumzy... He works at the KFC down on MainI swear, it was 11:43 and there was just a big rush
Food everywhere
But Clumzy closed the store by 12:00
Man that guy was my hero
How excited do u think the baseball world will get when Barry breaks the record?
I would say that Goose Gossage, he used to pitch three innings a lot of the time and did it for years with a lot of success. It hurts him that he hung on too long and ended up in middle relief but in his prime the only two close are Rivera and Eckersley in his hayday!right now mariano rivera but it will be jonathan paplebon
Which team has more fans in Los Angeles,New York, and Chcago?
Marino Rivera greatest of all time and will always be the greatest and he probably is not even done he just starting out slow.Does anyone know where i can find a video of the red sox 4-home run highlight?
I dont know but I dont think you can include a guy that single handily gave the World Series to a team that did not win one in 86 years. You cant be part of the biggest choke in sports history and be the best at the same time. What is the most beautiful MLB ballpark in America?
The main 3 are Goose Gossage, Dennis Eckersley and Mariano Rivera. Papalbon will be good also lets not forget Trevor Hoffman or Billy wagner. Both are excellent in their own rightWho is the best pitcher in baseball?
trevor HoffmanHey YANKEES!! YOU SCARED YET??
Rivera this year. But at one time it was Lidge of the Astros until his meltdown after the NLCS a couple of years ago. It would be difficult to say of all times because batters are getting better.of course I remember (showing my age) a time when the starter usually went the whole game.
Can a pitcher switch from left to right handed in a game?
John Smoltz. For Sure, he has nasty stuff. While the most obvious answer being in our time would be Mariano Rivera, let's go back a decade or two and say Dennis Eckersley. Already a dominant starter then converted to one of the best closers that ever lived.
Notables:
Mariano Rivera - yeah ok fine give it to Mr. Roboto
Trevor Hoffman - best changeup EVER!! used to be paired up with a 98MPH fastball, thats just lethal
Lee Smith - he did hold the saves record for a while
Eric Gagne - 82 straight saves without one blown? not bad...not bad at all
Rollie Fingers - the man was a master
Do you hate Barry Bonds as much as I do?
I'd take Eck, but there's other names that wouldn't look bad listed as #1.Does fielder chioce count as a hit?
I think Id have to go with Eric Gagne, just because his 70 straight save record is stunningMariano is good, but he seems inconsistent.
John Smoltz is good, but he isnt a closer anymore...
My daughter just bought a t shirt at the red sox game that says calvini rossi what does that mean?
I would have to say Mo Rivera of the Yankees. He's curretly 4th all time in save with 416, won a world series mvp in 1999 ( Only the second closer to do so. The other was Wetteland who's job he took ). And most of all he has unreal post season numbers.
Whose your Favorite baseball team?
Trevor Hoffman holds the record for saves, so I'd have to say him. With 492 saves and still pitching, this guy is headed straight to Cooperstown and is the best closer of all time.Single Season - Bobby Thigpen
Career
My opinion:
1) Rivera
2) Eck
3) Sutter
4) Gossage
5) Fingers
6) Lee Smith
7) Trevor Hoffman
8) John Franco
9) Jeff Reardon
10) John Wettland
Saves Leaders:
Trevor Hoffman 482 Saves
Lee Smith 478 Saves
John Franco 424 Saves
Mariano Rivera 413 Saves
Dennis Eckersley 390 Saves
Jeff Reardon 367 Saves
Randy Myers 347 Saves
Rollie Fingers 341 Saves
John Wetteland 330 Saves
Roberto Hernandez 326 Saves
Are the Minnesota Twins stupid for building an open-air ballpark without a retractable dome?
The GooseWhich baseball team is gonna have the best year and why?
If i was selfish, i would say Bobby Thigpen (1990 57 Saves Folks) but im only kidding.Rivera was good
Hoffman Is Good
But surprisingly i would want Billy Wagner as my closer. I just love how the guy has electric stuff and a cocky attitude.
Question...Didn't Billy Wagner use to be a righty but he messed up his arm and started throwing left handed? I heard that someplace before. Dont know if its true or not it was waay before he made it to the Show.
Whats the point of having so many innings in a baseball game??
As a Met fan I hate the Yankees but I have to give credit where credit is due. Mariano Rivera is hands down baseball's all time best closer.Does Kurt Schilling owe Barry Bonds an apopolgy?
Lee SmithShould MLB raise its Hall of Fame standards?
Rollie FingersWakefield (just kidding)
Dennis Eckersley
Oh, the guy that is still on the team I shall not name was pretty good too.
Maybe someday we can add Papelbon. Hopefully someday soon.
