Red Sox beat Chicago, however to the guy that critized those players i think that you should learn what actually happened. The players were going broke while the owners were getting rich from the team's victoryDoes Red Sox have a little league??
Wow Ed, you are way off on who played. The Reds beat the White Sox in 8 games. It was an 8 game series instead of the traditional 7 games because it was the first world series after the Great War(WW1), and they wanted to make it longer and more entertaining. This was also the year of the "Black Sox Scandal" where several players from the far superior White Sox team accepted money from the mob and bookies to throw the World Series.
The most notable player in the scandal was "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. He was tricked into signing a confession because the investigators knew he was illiterate. Also, his stats for the series go completely against the theory that he was involved: .370 Avg. with the only home run in the series, and he had 40 put-outs(when a ball is hit to him) without a single error.
