My fellow baseball fans, what annoys you more. when a hitter swings on a 3-0 count? or the first pitch?

Question:the numbers say that swinging on the first pitch is a waste, swinging on a 3-0 count or even a 3-1 count is even worse, because over 90% of the time you'll get a walk. simply swinging on the first pitch is bad because the batter doesn't simply put..when you give a pitcher a 1,2,3 inning when he only pitches 9 or 10 pitches (is down right pathetic). i've seen to many AVERAGE pitchers (not even AVERAGE) pitch deep into games because the team being pitched to, swung over 50% of the time at the first pitch. meaning, the pitcher doesn't even get tired if he has 5 innings of less than 10 or 12 pitches.

don't help the pitcher out. MAKE HIM THROW YOU SOME PITCHES.

Does Japans baseball hall a of fame ,have higher records than ours?

Nothing irritates me more than seeing a batter swing on a 3-0 pitch. especially against an "elite" pitcher. The more pitches a pitcher throws, the better chance you'll get a "mistake" pitch, or at worst, you'll increase your likelihood of getting on base by a walk. Not to mention the more he throws, the sooner he'll get tired. The only thing better than a walk is a double.

Found a bill buckner firstbaseman glove at garage sale.wonder if it would ever be worth anything?

3-0 pitch b/c the first pitch usally pitchers trow strikes so you have a better chance there than 3-0

Adam Mills is having a great season this year is he a potential first rounder?

I'm retracting my answer. You're a moron. You're looking for different perspectives, then bashing people that give them to you.

Ask grown up questions and show sources where you use statistics. They seem made up to me.

Watch a little more baseball and learn that different situations call for different attitudes at the plate. You're making a blanket statement and then asking people to confirm your opinions for you.

Feel free find my answers to other questions and "thumbs down" them as well. Seems like the kind of childish behavior I'd expect.

Where do pitchers go before an MLB Game during Batting Practice?

It all depends on game situations...

If a good middle of the order hitter has a 3-0 count with two outs in an inning then I don't mind the hitter swinging at a get-me-over fastball. But if it is a number 8 hitter in the NL swinging at that same pitch I will be yelling at him from my couch. He should make that pitcher throw strikes and it his his job to make sure that the pitcher gets to hit in that inning so that they can flip the lineup over.

I really don't mind a hitter swinging at a first pitch in most cases. The times you shouldn't are if the pitcher has been wild to the previous batters, if your pitcher on the previous play had to hustle and is winded (this one really bites my butt...being a Cubs fan I will watch Big Z leg out a double and while he stands on 2nd the Cubs next hitter will swing at the first pitch hitting it to the SS for a routine out...then Z comes to the mound and walks two before giving up a hit because he didn't have time to get his legs rested.), a batter in that inning made an out on the first pitch, ect.

Who's pitching in tomorrows Dodgers D-Backs game?

It is more annoying on a 3-0 count because instead of having to throw 3 pitches in a row in the zone he only would really need to throw 2. There are 2 trains of thought in hitting. I've been coached to swing on the first pitch because the pitcher will probably be around the zone to get ahead in the count. I have also been taught by a different coach to take the first pitch to make him work a little more. However, by taking pitches early and not being aggressive, you can lose momentum and it makes the pitcher more confident. If you are aggressive and swing on the first pitch you show the pitcher that you are out there to hit and you won't settle for anything but a hit. Which then forces him to start pitching around you.

How many players have hit home runs in all 4 new york parks (shea, & yankee stad. polo grounds & ebbets field)

Dude your a guy who doesn't really know a lot about baseball.
Why would you look at the first pitch and take the risk of starting an at bat 0-1 and on 3-0 most pitchers would throw a hittable ball so he wont walk a guy,

Who has allowed the most walks while throwing a no hitter?

the first pitch bcuz a 3-0 pitch is just kind of a free swing..so to speak..

Fantasy Baseball?

It has to be on a 3-0 count. The reason why hitters don't swing on the first pitch is to increase the pitchers pitch count, but once you get passed the Starter, that rule doesn't really matter with relievers. And batting with a 3-1 count isn't much dif. than a 3-0 count.
