Does anyone know an e-mail address for MLB's commissioner's office?
Question:I'm shocked at an article I just read about Tori Hunter having to take back the 4 bottles of champagne he sent to Mike Sweeney from last year, for the Royals beating the Tigers and giving the Twins the Divisional Title.
The rule as it was stated in the article reads..."21-b, regards misconduct and is titled "Gift For Defeating Competing Club."
It prohibits anyone connected with a particular team from offering a gift or reward to a person connected with another club for an attempt to defeat a competing club. The giver and receiver, without notification of the commissioner's office, are subject to ineligibility for "not less than three years."
From what I can see Hunter made this gesture AFTER the game was over not prior therefore he did NOT in my opinion violate the rule, key to this is the portion of offering a gift for an ATTEMPT, that implies prior to the outcome...not AFTER. I see this as nothing more than Selig reconfirming he is a jerk, and an idiot monarch as a commish.

That he's a jerk is nothing new. That Torii Hunter inadvertently broke a rule is the truth, though. If he didn't agree with that, he wouldn't have apologized, and he did apologize. The rule is there and has been there for a long, long time to help to protect the integrity of the game, as played on the field. It's in the same class as the rule against gambling, and for the same type of reason. Read the whole story. There's nothing wrong with snail mail. He's be known to answer.
