How can is stop myself from being nervous because i have a softball game today?
You start with going to umpire school. If you do well enough there, you'll be offered a contract to officiate rookie league games, or possibly Arizona Fall league, etc. You try to work your way up from there. But it's along, long road and there are many more who don't make it than do.Have to work your way up, highschool, college, then pro's.
This is the 3rd team in Washington DC. What happend with the first two?
Easy, have bad eyesite, be 100 pounds over weight, like the color blue and be about 87 years old. Oh you must also like to yell at people..well what you want to do is graduate from the university impiresy. if you are not familiar with the term it comes from the ancient language of mesopotamians. after you have graduated from this prestige institute of learning and education.. you definitly need to buy some captain crunch and FEED IT TO YOUR WAITER. do it. after you have done all these tasks i have mentioned to you..you might become one of the greatest umpires...like ghandi.
good luck fellow space cadet. god speed.

Attend one of the 2 official umpire schools (Wendelstedt School for Umpires or the Evans Academy), place well there, proceed through the Umpire Development camp, work throught the minors and hopefully fulfill the dream of working MLB games.I advanced to the Midwest League then retired due to knee problems and personal reasons.
Good Luck.
