Do u like kauffman stadium?

Because you are allowed to over run first base and not be tagged out, but on all the other bases if you overshoot and the base player gets the ball and tags you when you are off the base, you are out. Thus no need to dive for first base. The whole point of diving for a base is that you slide up into it and come to a stop on it rather than run past it and have to stop.

Broncos vs. Raiders. where do you stand and why?

b/c it is slower than running threw the base. 1st is the only base you can do that on.

Why does Astros 1baseman Lance Berkman talk to every single baserunner and what is he talking to them about?

Your not allowed to dive into first base because its not allowed.

Cool team nicknames for a girls fastpitch softball team?

Because you can over run (running past 1st into foul territory) it - therefore you don't have to slow down as you would have to at 2nd or 3rd. Since you can remain running at full speed, overrunning the base is typically thought of as being quicker than sliding.

Who is the most valuble Brave? Met? Your Team?

It's not the safest way to get on first. Diving towards first is very risky and can be very dangerous. A couple of years ago Manny Ramirez almost injured himself sliding head first into second. I have seen Kevin Youkilis dive head first to the bag and get on. This way is very dangerous and can get you injured. And many times they are not in the right position or right distance to do that.

I'm looking for a team to root for in the AL. Anything to propose?

To be honest, I don't really see THAT many players diving/sliding into first base. I think MAYBE, if it's a young guy.. he's trying to show his manager some hustle. If it's a veteran sliding into first.. I would think maybe he knows that he's out and is trying to make it harder for the umpire to see the play (with all the dirt flying around).

Does anyone have any 2007 upperdeck baseball card codes?

It's faster and safer to run through the base. That' why they let you run through it. Coaches all teach to run through it nowadays.

How do saves work?

You can run through first which is faster as you dont stop your momentum. and diving head first can be dangerous especialy with the pitcher or the first baseman closing in on the bag.

How do you make your own baseball? what materials do you need?

The batter-runner is out when:
he fails to reach first base before a fielder with a live ball in his possession touches first base or touches the runner-batter with the ball (except when the batter is awarded first base, such as on a base on balls due to pitching fouls); a batted ball is caught in flight; or he hits an infield popup while the infield fly rule applies.
Any baserunner, other than the batter-runner, is out when:
he is forced out; that is, he fails to reach his force base before a fielder with a live ball touches that base or tags him with the ball; a fielder catches a batted ball in flight, and subsequently, some fielder with a live ball in possession touches the runner's time of pitch base before the runner tags up (appeal play); while attempting to reach home plate with fewer than two outs, the batter interferes with a fielder and such action hinders a potential tag out near home plate; or he is found to be an illegal substitute.
Any baserunner, including the batter-runner, is out when:
he is tagged out; that is, touched by a fielder's hand holding a live ball while in jeopardy, such as while not touching a base; he passes a base without touching it and a member of the defensive team properly executes a live ball appeal; he commits interference, such as when he contacts a fielder playing a batted ball, or when he contacts a live batted ball before it passes a fielder other than the pitcher; he strays more than three feet (.91 meters) from his running baseline in attempting to avoid a tag; he intentionally abandons his effort to run the bases; or he runs the bases in reverse order in an attempt to confuse the defense or to make a travesty of the game

Is it weird that when A-Rod hits 2 HR's, it a national news, but when Ramirez does, it's not a big deal?

Because you can run past first base without getting tagged out, whereas at second and third, if you overrun the base, you can get tagged out. The only time I would say it would be smart to dive/slide into first is if the runner sees a high throw that pulls the first baseman toward him, and the first baseman's only play is to catch the ball and tag the runner. That's the only situation I can think of where it would be smart to attempt a dive/slide into first.

If you are a big Yankees Fan say yes!?

The reason is one you could hurt your hand diving head first into the base and second running straight through the base is quicker then diving.

Would you trade Derek Jeter for Jose Reyes if you had the chance?.?

It's safer and faster to just run through the base.

Won't someone please bring a goat to wrigley?

Because it would be incredibly stupid. Sliding slows you down. The only time you would want to slide is to avoid a swipe tag on a bad throw to the home plate side of first.

Where can I find the answers to the 2001 Babe Ruth Umpire Certification Test?

Sliding into 1B actually slows down your momentum and you'll be out more often than you will be safe.
