Little leages!!Why?? AHH!?
Question:Why is that when your a little kid and you're playing little leagues you're still out at home even if you knock the ball out of the catcher's mit!?!? I mean the runners wearing a helmet and the catchers wearing EVERYTHING!
Answers:
What current Major League player has a swing closest to Ted Williams'?
because all that catcher gear is tough for a little kid to wear (did you ever try to put on that much gear relative to your body weight?), and it's made to protect the kid from being hit by a pitch, not by another charging kid. At that age, they don't want to encourage runners to slam into the catcher, for fear of injury. Will Dale Murphy ever make it to the HOF?
the guy above me is correct. It's done for safety because a kid plowing into another kid isn't safe since the gear they are wearing isn't mean for it. A helmet doesn't protect against things like broken necks. etc. What is the limit on runs you will let a starter give up in the 1st before take him out?
Because running over the catcher in little league is against the rules. Period. Also, intentionally knocking the ball out of any fielder's glove/mitt by hitting it or kicking it is illegal. Period.
Why are innings called innings in baseball?
Man! I'm in little league too. I think that you should be able to ram the catcher. It's baseball, right? I had a play at home where if I rammed the catcher I would have been safe because the catcher was not that big. I am way bigger than that catcher and could have been safe, but I had to slide. That stinks! Was there at one time an all African American baseball team?
Since the must slide or avoid the player rule has been implemented, injuries in LL have reduced by over 50% at the plate.Teaching kids to ram the catcher is a 'club ball' move, and has no place in Little League.. I for one wouldn't let my kid player catcher if I had to worry about a bigger kid ramming him. You have head injuries, neck injuries, and all kinds of bad things.. Not to mention, everyone is sue happy these days.
I think it is a great rule, and we enforce it heavily in our league and have very few injuries at the plate...
