* Kerry Wood, Chicago Cubs (NL), May 6, 1998, vs. Houston.
* Roger Clemens, Boston Red Sox (AL), Sept. 18, 1996, at Detroit.
* Roger Clemens, Boston Red Sox (AL), April 29, 1986, vs. Seattle.

Roger Clemens struck out 20 in a game in 1986, and again in 1996 with the Red Sox, and Kerry Wood struck out 20 in 1998 for the Cubs. No one else has struck out more in 9 innings in MLB history.Tom Cheney of the Washington Senators struck on 21 (or is it 22?) in a 16-inning performance in 1962 I believe.
No But Roger Clemens struck out 20 Seattle Mariners in a 9 inning game when he pitched for the Boston Red Sox.
