Baseball is in his blood. Professional sports to these guys, and the competition that goes with it, are like drugs. They don't want to stop playing.Remember Wille Mays stumbling around in the outfield?
It is a moment that no professional athlete wants to think about...the day they hang up the cleats.
Randy Johnson is in his 40's. He is an old man in the baseball world. I believe that he is at the end of his playing career.
Now, will he be totally inneffective? No, he will provide much needed help to some teams. That being said, he will not be playing on any world series contenders this year or for the remainder of his career.
I for one would like to see Randy Johnson retire without making too much a fool of himself.
I'm sure it depends on how he does this year with the D-Backs.

I'm not sure in what way he can help them. They were crazy to resign him to that contract.Who should win MVP for baseball? exept A-Rod?
Yes he is just to old and not much left in himever since he was a yankee, i have bbeen under this impression. being a yankee fan and watching him play, i realized that he is just not very effective anymore, and that he would be better off retiring and leaving baseball on now somehat of a high
Who thinks that the Giants are awesome?
No way hes on my fantasy teamWhen are they going to play field of dreams again?
First Of all I live in Tucson Arizona, Which is where the D'Backs' AAA team the sidewinders is. Did you know that Randy Johnson Hasn't thrown 1 pitch for the D'backs yet this season. He has started in 2 games for the AAA team and he's given up 7 runs... TO AAA PLAYERS! IF he does move up he will never be the same. I would compare him to Roger Clemens when he was pitching AAA last year.he should stay but hes not gonna. a player is usually traded back to "his team" at the end of his career so he can finish it out with them.
Baseball question, Who gets the win?
he is? yea right. he's 43, coming off surgery and still better than 90% of the left handed pitchers in baseball. he just pitched a perfect game 2 full seasons ago.when rocket comes back, and unit is back from rehab the 2 best pitchers in the game will have a combined age of 86. that's messed up.
