With an aluminum bat, you really can't pitch inside anymore. The "sweet" spot is much bigger on an aluminum bat. You can see situations where a college ballplayer hits a ball close to his hands and still hits it out of the park. You can't do that with a wooden bat.Have the NYMets ever swept a three game series from the NY Yankees in interleague play?

They hit the ball hard enough with wooden bats. A hard line drive off a wood bat can be travelling 120 + mph, if they were hitting with aluminum bats they would literally kill some poor pitcher. Also, there's enough offense in MLB, they don't need to add a factor that will increase run scoring. How did the teams get picked for National and American League in baseball?
Because pitchers and infielders would get killed. That and it would mean anyone could hit 50+ home runs a year. A guy like McGwire might hit 100 HRs in a year.Tradition. Mostly.
And Game Balance. Some.

Home runs, hurt pitchers (kill em' maybe),Tradition, guys like to see bats broken. That's pretty much it.Because those comebackers to the pitcher would result in fatalities instead of injuries. The same might happen to guys in the dugout and to fans on foul balls. Plus, HRs wouldn't mean as much, as any squarely hit ball might end up in the seats. The bats would also dent on especially hard hit balls, too, making them worthless. I think they shouldn't be used outside of HS ball, myself.

Balls hit with aluminum bats travel at velocities way higher than with wooden bats, and it could kill people fielding the ball. Why has offense been so down this year and do you like baseball this way?
