Metal bats vs wood?

Question:looking at the sub-headline "why are metal bats being banned", for you baseball players out there, don't the major leauges use wood ones? do you like metal or wood bats better?

Answers:

What is the best pitching book available? (baseball)?

Metal bats are used in the youth leagues through college because it's cheaper - they don't break. But the tradeoff is the baseball projects faster off the metal bat, which may cause injuries to infielders - in particular, pitchers - that wouldn't happen if a batter was using a wood bat.

I would hate to see youth leagues having to limit the number of teams or high schools having to drop baseball/fast-pitcg softball due to financial considerations brought on by government involving themselves in this issue -- passing laws banning the use of metal bats in leagues in their municipalities.

Wood bats are a must at the pro level - you couldn't have the type of line drives being hit with metal bats - but it's common-sense that the 10-year-old league playing on a field a mile from the stadium doesn't have a major-league bankroll for equipment.

What is the fastest pitch recorded in history in pro baseball?

I like the ping on the aluminum bats, but the wood bats require more strength and skill to hit a ball over 400 feet.
Wood bats for me

Do you think that I will have a future?

I'm a big fan of wood bats, and I think college baseball ought to switch to wood. Players are getting too strong, and someone is going to end up seriously injured or killed by one of the lasers coming off one of those space-age alloy bats. As a matter of fact, as a first-year high school coach, I think high school ball-players should switch to wood bats. I understand fans like offense, and that's why colleges may be loath to change, but as a baseball purist, I get a little sick of seeing scores that look like they'd be better suited for the NFL. 14-7 doesn't make a very good baseball game.

Who's the ace of the Yankees rotation now, Clemens or Wang?

The bats are actually aluminum not metal and all the new ones are carbon fiber, The reason they are being banned is cause the ball comes off them to quickly, Some women in the states got hit in the head with a softball in a game and died, The bat that the guy was swinging was a Miken Freak, There unreal if you can get one, I swung a few times with one and by far the best bat i have ever used and i have played for about 10 years.

I like the wood bats myself, always used to hit with aluminum bats in high school because everyone else did, but I loved it when we played in wood bat tournaments during the summer.

Wood is better! You can hit the ball a lot harder and can really hurt someone with a metal bat!

Jays Fans.how about some nicknames for our players (current)?

Using wood bats is a tradition. It's a century old tradition of using wooden baseball bats in the major leagues. To use metal (or graphite like softball bats) is "blasphemy" (according to my dad).
