How long do you think it will take for the Royals, Nationals and Devil Rays to become good teams?

Question:Give me what year each makes the playoffs, and what they have to do to fix the team other than raising their payroll to something of the Yankees, Cubs, Mets, Dodgers, or Boston.

Answers:

Red Sox Fans?

I won't answer for any team except the Royals. I'm going to say 2010 for the playoffs. 3 more seasons after this one. They have some young guys that need to develop a little more, Gordon, Pena Jr, Ryan Shealy. They really need to improve their pitching before than can become any kind of contender. Meche has surprised me some this year, I don't think he ever pitched that well in Seattle. Greinke has his moments, if he could be consistent he could be really good. Luke Hochevar is a guy in the minors who they say should develop into a good pitcher. Royals bullpen needs mass improvement all the way through. The real key will be to keep the players that they develop and not let them get away in free agancy like they did with Dye, Damon and Beltran. Now that they have an actual owner and a GM that knows what he's doing, I think it will be a easier to show players that they are committed to putting together a winning baseball team and that will help them in improving through free agency and retaining the home grown talent.

For dysfer83 - don't know about the Nationals, but the Royals have entirely new managment from when they let their good players walk away. At that point the Royals franchise had no owner and was run by a group of businessmen, not baseball men. They could make money with a losing team and didn't care about winning. When Glass bought the team he got rid of every one of them and brought in Dayton Moore to build a winning team.

Can my baseball stats get me anywhere?

i dont know about the Royals and Nationals but i think the Devil Rays will be good in a year or two they have some good young talent

Why do Japanese players' numbers go down when they come to MLB?

Devil Rays will be the first team to become really good. Their team is young and talented and is on the way up. They have some good arms. I think they just need find a more stable bullpen to elevate them to the next level. It is really hard to say they will make the playoffs any time soon with the division they are in, because they are always competing with the Red Sox and the Yankees. I think KC will be the first to break into the playoffs, because of their division. I say KC in 2009.

In baseball, who wears masks?

Royals + Nationals = More than 20 years + New management... these franchises have shown in the past that they are not interested in winning championships but only winning dollars by tricking people into believing they will see major league games. they let their biggest assets walk with the notion that they could not afford these players yet make no other roster changes that would reflect they are actually trying to win and rectify the situation...
Devil Rays = More than 20 years due to plain old dumb luck... hard enough to play in a division with Boston and NY... this is a good young team though. It will be tough for them to compete forever because of the big market clubs in their division. Their time could come much sooner if they are able to sign their young talent to long term deals... crawford, young, baldelli, kazmir, upton...

Yankee's vs Red Sox's Sunday night baseball - what will the final score be?

It takes time to become a good team. Unfortunately for them, they are all in very tough divisions. I'd hate to be in the AL East and compete with the Yanks and Red Sox, like the Rays have to do regularly. Also, the AL Central was the toughest division last year and might be so again this year. KC won't have a chance anytime in the near future.

Can someone please explain the double switch to me.?

Well, they've been teams for a long time and they haven't become good yet so know one knows, but i'm thinking a LONG time.
And all of those teams need some good pitching. They have no depth whatsoever, and I know it's tough to say, but they need to invest in some good ballplayers. They just don't have them.
