As for Verlander, I'm projecting him to win about 17-18 this year. I think they're really going to look at limiting his innings later in the season to try to avoid wearing him out like he did toward the end of last year. He's a young kid, and they definitely don't want to ruin him.

NoIt is extremely difficult for a pitcher to win 20 games in the game today because pitchers don't pitch as often as they used to. Look at Santana last year; he was absolutely dominant and won only 19 games. The pitchers with the best chance to do it are NL pitchers because the league as a whole is not as good. In the NL teams are generally really good or really bad, whereas in the AL most teams are at least decent.
I'm not saying it can't be done. A few AL pitchers have done it in the last few years, but it is very very difficult.
