The Sox wore green in honor of Celtics legend Red Auerbach who passed away in October last year. Even though Red had no close ties to the Sox, management felt they should give tribute to a sports icon, and a Boston legend. They were originally going to wear the green unis (which are normally only worn on St. Patty's Day) on Thursday two weeks ago against the Mariners, but the game was rained out.
