Can you named a great pitcher the was never a closer or starter?
Question:I can only think or one, i will tell you my answer after i select the best answer.
He pitch in a lot of games and he was actually a closer for a while.
So if you can name a pitche the was closer for a few season is ok.
But dont select somebody the has always being a closer of half or his career he was a closer.

Jesse Orosco, Mike Stanton, Paul Quantril all are these types of players.
I guess it depends on what your definition of 'great' is.
Scott Sullivan was a relief pitcher for the Cincinnati Red's. He was a sidearm pitcher, and like most sidearm pitchers, developed back problems and had many trips to the disabled list towards the end of his career.

My guess is that you are thinking of Hall of Famer Hoyt Wilhelm. He was a knuckleballer that pitched in relief almost his entire career. He holds the MLB record for wins out of the bullpen. Saves wasn't really a category they kept good stats on when he was pitching, so I've seen him credited with anywhere between 30 and 230 saves.More Questions & Answers...
