Is the AL Central the strongest division in baseball? Where will the White Sox end up?
Question:Die hard White Sox fan, I believe we have the strongest division, and if the pitching goes back to '05 form, they will be there.
Answers:
Do you think Dice-K is worth the money that Boston spent on him?
Easily the strongest. The Yanks and BoSox have weak pitching lineups. The O's stink and the Blue Jays are slightly above average. You have 4 very strong teams in the Central, no doubt about it.
The AL Central has the strongest pitching up and down. The WildCard will once again come out of the Al Central just like last year. I believe that if the Sox pitching holds up, Minnesota will take the division, with the Sox taking the Wild Card. Detroit will be in the mix but fortunately for Sox fans, we play them hard and have their number. Cleveland, they seem to always underachieve. Until I see other wise, I say it stays that way.

It's not the strongest in terms of overall because Kansas City is in their division and we all know how poor the Royals are. I'd have to say it's one of the strongest with the AL East and NL Central being the other two strong divisions. However, pound for pound the AL East easily beats out the AL Central because the Red Sox, Yankees, and even Blue Jays are tough opponents for any team. The White Sox may have won the World Series a couple years ago, but they are not the superior team they were in 2005. However, all this is irrelevant because the season just started and there's no way to tell in April what the out come will be in October.O.K., all you Yankee haters, why do you hate the Yankees so much?
Sox pitching is back to 2005 form. It's the hitting that is not there yet (see Konerko and AJ). They will be in the running. To the guy who says the NL Central is a strongest division - I say change that to "competitive" and you will be right. But no team in the NL Central is "Strong". But than again - all you need is to be hot in October (See Cardinals).
Why so few black baseball players?
The AL Central IS the toughest divison, hands down.My Royals always seem to take up the rear in more ways than one.
I picked the Twins to win this year with Detroit in a close second. I hate to say it, but I think the Indians will be third. They have a great, young team with good hitting (Sizemore and Hafner) and above average pitching. I think the White Sox already peaked a couple of years ago... Good luck!
I think you can't discount the fact that the past two AL teams to make it to the World Series were from the AL Central, and they made it look easy getting there. Bottom line is they face the toughest divisional competition in the majors, so they're pretty well prepared for the playoffs.
The Tigers, Indians and Sox have great pitching staffs. Minnesota is not far behind and probably has the best bullpen. Great hitting on all of those teams too. Even the Royals are getting better - in 2 or 3 years they will be downright scary!
According to ESPN the AL Central is the strongest division in baseball.
