So if baseball is a sport why some of the players are fat ?
Watch lifting weights, especially when you are in the process of throwing a lot. And you should be throwing quite a bit to build the arm strength. Weight lifting for the legs is a must however. Squats, lunges, etc... Anything to build your thighs and glutes. Stay away from heavy lifting with the upper body that requires pushing, i.e. press exercises. Use lighter weights with the upper body. If you can make your upper body, as well as your lower body, more flexible you can add a couple mph on your fastball. Try yoga for this. It losens you up and it will keep you from getting hurt. I ruined myself when I was about your age, and I threw in the mid-90's so watch pitching too much and of course the upper body press exercises. Also, if you truely want to become an outstanding pitcher, how fast you can throw is secondary to location, changing speeds, and movement. First and foremost learn to hit your spots. A pitcher who can do this consistently is going to be effective. Changing speeds keeps the hitter off guard so experiment with your change up. Movement is often something you have or don't, but you can obviously create movement with breaking pitches. If you have a fastball that moves, you can be a force.
By the way, I couldn't get out there and throw with my dad back in the day either. He had awful shoulder problems. But I was constantly throwing against a wall, throwing with friends, etc... Just keep practicing and working hard and you'll do fine. Best of luck to you.

Throw alot, work on your leg strength and stay away from throwing a curve ball as long as possible, at 16(a million year ago for me)I could throw 81mph and I threw daily, but I was a catcher not pitcherThrow against a wall, or into a bucket, maybe if the school in the area still has baseball backstops try throwing from the mound
GREATEST YANKEE EVER!?!?!?!?!?!?
Building arm strength is and should be a long process. First, I would get a therapeutic (rubber) band. Orthopedic Dr.'s have and physical therapist have these. There are a number of exercises you can do to strengthen "all" the muscles in your shoulder, you can ask a physical therapist to show you the basics. A lot of baseball players make the mistake of just strengthening there chest and the front of the shoulder. Concentrate on strengthening the rear shoulder muscles more than the front, these decelerate you arm, allowing you to throw more, which will let you gain arm strength. When you can play catch, work into a long toss, stretching out further each time. Legs, legs, legs. Usually, the guys with the strongest lower body, have the strongest arm. Will barry bond's giants finish in last place? i hope so!?
The best way is by throwing evedry day, including long toss.I understand the sentiment in wanting to throw only with your father, but there are other people. Invite your father along to watch. I'm sure he'll enjoy the time spent with you, and that's really a big part of what that relationship is about.
