Trick question. There are 4 outs in every inning, except maybe not in the 9th. There are 3 in each half inning. If the home leads after 8 1/2 then only 3. To get exactly 4 in one inning the home team scores the winning run with 1 out in the 9th

The defense doubles off the runner from second for the third out, but after the runner from third "scores."

I assume what you're asking about is just one-half of an inning...Simple fact of the matter is...there cannot be more than 3 OUTS in one half of an inning...BUT there can be more than 3 K's (strikeouts)... if on the 3rd strike, the pitch gets away from the catcher, the batter can steal first. it's a strikeout, but not an out.
