How can there be four outs in one Major league baseball inning?

With all the negative things that people say about Barry Bonds, does anyone ever think about his kids?

There can't be four outs, BUT a pitcher can record four strikeouts in an inning if a batter swings at a wild pitch for strike 3 and beats the catcher's throw to first base.

If the catcher doesn't catch the ball cleanly (the ball can't touch the dirt) even if the batter swings and strikes out, he becomes a baserunner and can take first base.

Where can I find a poster of Nolan Ryan kicking Robin Ventura's ***?

passed ball on strike 3

Rip cards pitcher?

passed ball on strike 3.Counts as an out in the box score but not in the game.

Is David Ortiz the most intimidating player in baseball today?

Third strike gets away from catcher (passed ball or wild pitch) and batter reaches first base before thrown out.

Who wore #17 before Mark Grace with the Chicago Cubs?

Easy, someone hits a walkoff with 1 out in the bottom of the ninth. 3 outs in the top plus 1 out in the bottom = 4 outs in the inning.

I suspect the answer you're looking for is a dropped third strike in which the batter safely reaches first, but that'd be incorrect. The pitcher is credited with a strikeout, but not an out. He doesn't log an extra out for stats like ERA, WHIP, etc.

On a similar note, I once played in a high school game where our pitcher recorded five strikeouts in a single inning; our catcher was terrible.

What would you like to see in baseball?

Assuming you mean in one half inning...
Depending on how "bad" the umps are, there can be even more than four! LOL!!

MLB height requirments?

Trick question. There are 4 outs in every inning, except maybe not in the 9th. There are 3 in each half inning. If the home leads after 8 1/2 then only 3. To get exactly 4 in one inning the home team scores the winning run with 1 out in the 9th

Maglio OrdoƱez?

Same way you can have more than 3 strikeouts in an inning.

When is Brian Cashman going to realize that pitching wins ballgames?

An inning has six outs -- three per half. And in case you're asking about a half-inning, you can't have more than three. Don't even try to get cute with the apparent fourth out situation that can arise when the defense appeals a base running infraction that results in an apparent fourth out to negate a run.

For example, one out, bases loaded. The batter hits a fly ball to right that is caught for the second out. The runner from third fails to tag up properly and "scores." The defense doubles off the runner from second for the third out, but after the runner from third "scores."

The defense can appeal at third to put out the runner from third. That becomes the third out. The guy doubled off second isn't out.

First question was a test. Real question, What were Rod Carew's stats against Nolan Ryan?

I assume what you're asking about is just one-half of an inning...

Simple fact of the matter is...there cannot be more than 3 OUTS in one half of an inning...BUT there can be more than 3 K's (strikeouts)... if on the 3rd strike, the pitch gets away from the catcher, the batter can steal first. it's a strikeout, but not an out.
