Top 5 most overated players ?
Question:Here's my list
1.C.Carpenter (Just cause he had 1 good season and winning the Cy young award shouldnt make him the best pitcher in the NL as most people consider him to be...also by drafting him in the 1st round in some Fantasy drafts...is just plaing dumb.
2.B.Zito ( Highly overated, overpaid him and hes never been the same since winning the CY Young award.)
3.M.Teixeira (Only good season he had was in 2005..his breakout season and most people draft him in the 1st round in fantasy drafts..not very smart)
4.B.Abreau
5.R.Furcal(hes a ok player dont get me wrong but hes overated to me.)
Ok so guys list your top 5 !
Answers:
Take the letter "M" and give me your alltime baseball team.?
1. Barry Zito. The guy's just not an ace. He gives you innings, but not very high quality ones. He's shown no signs of dominance the past few years.2. Alfonso Soriano. That 40-40 season was great. So great, that the people who expect him to threaten that mark again will be sadly disappointed. Last year was a contract year, the guy's still never finished a season with a >.300 batting average. I don't consider him a top 10 player in the league.
3. Robinson Cano. Just because he's been terrible this year. I think people were too impressed by what he did last season and projected too much from him.
4. Justin Morneau. He was probably the third best player on his team last year (behind Mauer, Santana) and he won MVP. Liriano and Nathan also played very important roles on the team last year. The fact that we consider him the reigning AL MVP makes him overrated in my book.
5. Eric Chavez. Plays excellent defense, but he's been very average offensively the past few years. The guy has the skills to be an MVP candidate, too many people in the Bay Area think he's close to that level. Really, he's not even an All-Star.
Why do baseball players stick their index finger outside the glove?
AROD, Jeter, Randy Johnson, Felix Hernandez, Mariano Riveria just to name a few. Find a pattern? Most of them are yankees or were before. Its because the yankees themselves are overated.1. Alex Rodriguez
2.Jhonny Damon: WHAT A TRAdER
3. Roger Clemens: Why won't he come to the RED SOX! old boot thinks he so good! I can't wait to c him use his can to back to the dug out.
4.Nomar Garciapara: I hate what he does with his gloves b4 he bats.. its annoying.
5.BARRY BONDS: give us a break!
6. DEREK JEETER!
Who do you think is going to win the world series...METS or Yankees?
Alfonso Soriano (what happened?)Manny Ramirez (Mr. Inconsistent)
Ryan Howard (1 good year)
Carlos Zambrano (.271 BAA this year ... can't blame the Cubs run support for that!)
Adrian Beltre (1 good year ... I guess everyone knows he sucks now, but I live in Seattle, so he'll stay on my list)
-------------------
Since I've seen his name numerous times, I'd like to add that Bobby Abreu, in my opinion, was one of the most underrated players in the league when he was with the Phillies. He was a legit 30/30 threat every season. Great BB:K ratio too. But he's sucked since he joined the Yankees. Go figure.
--------------------
To the poster who questioned my Mr. Inconsistent label for Manny Ramirez. In 81 post-season games, he has a .257 average. I should've clarified that. Even Mr. April (Alex Rodriguez) has managed a .280 average in the post season.
Is there a video of Babe Ruth playing?
1. j.d. drew (1st round picked to choke)2. jason giambi (riod)
3. johnny damon (traitor)
4. royce clayton! (come on. played over ozzie?)
5. preston wilson (shouldn't play anywhere)
Does the mizuno crush 2 softball bat tend to break or crack easily ?
#5 Roger Clemens Dude will only go six innings per start and the Yankees' bullpen will blow it#4 Barry Bonds
#3 Barry Zito
#2 Todd Helton (Homers have declined 4 years in a row) Should be renamed Todd Hollandsworth
#1 Jason Giambi
Serious Question men please answer?
1) JD Drew- Boston manuvers to sign him to a long term high price contract and they get two home runs, 11 RBI and another injury.2) Zito- a #3 pitcher gets paid the second most in baseball history for a pitcher.
3) Matsuzaka- a good pitcher and one that I picked for my fantasy team, but even in Japan he was noted to give up the big inning and lose his ball control occasionally. Not the J. Santana type pitcher that was being hyped.
4) Eric Gagne- got a huge contract for an often injured closer. Crazy for Texas to pay $10 million when they already had a closer, not to mention one that hasn't played consistently in two years.
5) A Rod- Perhaps the greatest player of this generation, but not worth 25% of a team's payroll.
I could also add players like Chan Ho Park who also got a crazy contract from Texas that he didn't deserve and Jeff Weaver who got a big contract from Seattle this year to go 0-6.
If you notice, all of these players have one thing in common. Their agent Scott Boras.
What does the backwards "k" represent in baseball?
1. Daisuke Matsuzaka -- advertised as a Rolls-Royce, performs like a Yugo. Hides behind unreal run support and his newness to the bigs.2. Jason Varitek -- supposedly a great leader, he feels like he has to wear a "C" to show everyone. You don't see Jeter doing anything bush like that. Can't produce, either.
3. Craig Biggio -- slouching toward 3,000 hits. Many of them unclutch singles. Old and looking it.
4. Kevin Millwood -- considered the Rangers' "ace," pitching like a deuce all year, when he's not hurt, anyway.
5. Alfonso Soriano -- all that money for a man with no real position. Total waste with no DH in the NL.
Did the Yankees Win Tonight???
Anyone who says Barry Zito is overrated is just plain ignorant. He's average 15 wins per year the past six years not many pitchers can say that. Also he hasn't missed a start hmmmm does that count as overrated ummmmm let me think here this is a toughy I don't think it makes you overrated. For Joe who says Eric Chavez is overrated he's tied for 4th all time for gold gloves. He was injured all of last year with tendinitis in both arms where most players would have bowed out and hung it up and not play he played through it and still managed to hit 20 homeruns with no arms hmmmmm that doesn't sound like a player who is overrated. And also he committed just 5 errors. Thats just amazing he showed heart last year not many players can say that.
Now for my 5 overrated players
1. Derek Jeter
2. Ichiro
3. John Lackey
4. Dice-K
5. Johnny Damon
Who is the greatest Negro League Ballplayer of All-Time?
1. Jason Schmidt, Dodgers - signed a big deal with LA and now can't even throw over 88 MPH. Big bust so far.2. Alfonso Soriano, Cubs - should be in the league leaders in every offensive category with the salary he makes. Not great on defense either.
3. Adam LaRoche, Pirates - after hitting .282 with 32 homers and 82 RBIs last year with Braves, can't even hit his weight with Bucs.
4. Gary Sheffield, Tigers - Hasn't done a thing with Detroit. Seems like everyone that leaves the Yankees just goes down-hill.
5. Kerry Wood, Cubs - Every year people say this is his year and he ends up injured. Is so injury prone that we will never know how good he could have been.
Did They Postpone The Braves Game?
Before I make my list--how in the hell does someone call Manny Ramirez inconsistent as a poster above put it. That's ridiculous. I watched this guy since he was in the minors...all he does is hit. He's just stupid...great hitter though. My List...
1. Barry Zito--lets face it,this guy set Johan Santana up for a huge contract. Hey Twins fans--thank Zito for losing Santana after next year. Zito may be the most overpaid pitcher since Kevin Brown. This guy is not an ace. I always like Hudson and Mulder over him when they were in Oakland.
2. Ichiro Suzuki. This dude has a last name and he should be forced to wear it on his uniform. He can hit 400 singles in 162 games and his team still wouldn't contend. Slap hitter who I have yet to see perform in the clutch. Since 2001 have any of us really been that impressed?
3. Roger Clemens (2007 Version)-I don't base this on 1986-2003. I base it on the last few years and the fact that this guy just got 28 Million and is going to do squat for it. Someone should tell this guy to take a jump off the pedestal he likes to put himself on.
4. Sammy Sosa-the guy still plays-so he makes my list. Have you ever seen such a phony? He faked a smile all the time when he played in Chicago (you can sense sincerity). Then the cork in the bat?? Yeah--Sammy we believe you!! This guy was and still is depp ball or strikeout--now he's more strikeout ythen anything. What a hype!
5. Bobby (Booby) Abreu--Another overrated Yankee. Imagine that!! Can you think of the last major baseball accomplishment this guy has made since the freaking HR Derby in Detroit (was that an accomplisment? Maybe not)? Okay how about this--can you think of more then 1 season of majore accomplishments he made before the homerun derby? Case rested.
--now for a bonus--
Most underrated players
1. Joe Mauer-this dude could hit .400 in a season-doubt it--but more likely then anyone else
2. Travis Hafner,Grady Sizemore,Ryan Garko,Jhonny Perlata,hell--the entire Indians team
3. A.J. Pierzisnki--I just like his attitude man.
4. Omar Vizquel--you won't see it done like him for years to come--maybe decades.
5. Jason Varitek--good bat--great at calling a game-leadership qualities make him so valuable to Boston organization.
In my opinon but in no order at all...
A-Rod most definatly
Derek Jeter
Manny Ramirez
Roger Clemens
Barry Bonds
and actually that is just to name a few...there are many many more where this list came from!
Am i as an angel fan gonna get to see daisuke play us this series?
J.D. Drew - not worth being picked in the top 5 twiceBarry Zito - not worth the huge contract
Jason Varitek - Ortiz would be a better captain
Justin Morneau - should not have been MVP last year
Ryan Howard - see above
