If you know anything about baseball history Ty Cobb was a very dirty player, a scumball and a racist but his records stand and there was never any discussion whether he belonged in the Hall of Fame. They used to doctor up the ball like crazy back in the early days yet all those pitching records stand. Babe Ruth NEVER had to face a Eric Gagne or Goose Gossage or any strong closer back in those days. He faced tired pitchers and ones who were pitching on 2-3 days rest. There were no closers back then like there are today throwing serious heat in the 6th-9th innings. He faced much easier pitching and his records still stand. Yet people absolutely hate Barry Bonds even though he has YET to be convicted of any wrongdoing!! Do you think there is a pattern here?? I've said it before. I have put on weight and gotten stronger over the last 10-15 years and I am not on steroids. I am just bigger and stronger period. And smarter. Barry is remarkably talented and if you watch him watch the ball and watch his swing, you cannot help but accept the fact that he is talented. Get off the hater bandwagon people and appreciate him because soon he will be gone and so will the only 7 time MVP of MLB. Love him or hate him he was a joy to watch over the last 20 years in the field or at the plate.
