Will Pete Rose get into the Hall of Fame before or after Barry Bonds? Will Pete Rose ever get in?
Question:
Answers:
Are the Mets going to win the world series?
I find it interesting that Bonds has been indicted and found guilty by baseball fans. Rose bet on baseball. Big deal. We have all these stories of athletes like Barkley, Daly and the sainted Michael Jordon gambling huge amounts of money. O.J. is in the pro Football Hall of Fame. We have character issues all over sports. Is the Hall for the best players or the best people? Both should be in.Rose = Never!
Bonds = 95% chance of never!
What do you think of the Brewers performance?
They will never let Pete Rose in.Let's hope that neither ever get elected. Both are the scum of the earth.
Who is the MLB thirdbase player whose brother is a sportscaster?
I believe Pete Rose is already off the ballot, so he would only be elected via the veteran's committee.Bonds actually belongs in the hall of fame because of what he accomplished pre-drugs.
And for those that will counter that he has never been tested for Steroids, remember two things.
1) when he tried to stop the reports from leaking the grand jury report, he wasn't doing it because of "libel", the printing of false words, but because it was supposed to be protected. Anyone else that was innocent, would have thrown a libel suit at the paper.
2) with the people that say that Steroids wasn't illegal in baseball, remember that when people do things that are above board, they are ok talking about it. "You have really increased your home runs this year Barry, what have you been doing". "I am eating protien in the morning and doing a crossword everyday". If true, that's not the comment of someone who thinks eating protien or doing crosswords are illegal.
And to counter the "steroids doesn't help you hit a baseball" crap, you have to admit one of two things. Steroids helps you perform in baseball in SOME way (otherwise no one would do it) or it doesn't help in any way, which means no one would do it, so no one in baseball uses steroids.
Which is more realistic.
Do you want Jonathan Papelbon stay as closer or become a starter?
i think that it is not likely that either will get in, but if you had to be it woud probably be pete rose, for 2 reasons.1. he didn't cheat at baseball, he just beted on it, barry bonds cheated.
2. the next generation won't care as much because they weren't there at the time of pete rose, they just know what happened, but we all know and saw what is going on with barry bonds.
Whatever happened to the good ol' double header?
a repost from somewhere else....First, I HOPE I have alot of room. Second, this is mostly for the "NO" people.
Let me say that growing up in southern Ohio, in the 70's and 80's, I actually hated Pete Rose. I was a Johnny Bench fan and I got sick of hearing about Pete Rose. With that being said, let me show all of you why Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame.
Pete Rose, first and foremost, is NOT the greatest hitter of all time. If you look at numbers only it is a simple proven fact. Did Rose have the most hits all time, yes, but that doesnt make you th best. In fact, if you take the top 20 hitters (Those with the most lifetime hits) and divide their total number of at bats with their total number of hits, Pete Rose is # 16th, and if you take the total lifetime batting average of a person who had an actual career in baseball(aprox 2300 games=14 years playing a full schedule) Pete Rose BARELY breaks the top 100!
Now, with that in mind, Pete Rose was the Greatest at hitting consistantly, and for being great for a long time (20+ years playing.)
So, we are told that Pete Rose shouldnt be in the HOF for several reasons. They are among, but not limited to, Carater, remorse, how his wrong doing effect the outcome of the game, accountability, integrity of the HOF, cheating and others. So let us look at these things.
Charater- Pete Rose has poor charater because he lied about betting on baseball and refused to fully admit it for 14 years. He also is a self serving person who cares mostly about himself.
Remorse- Pete Rose admitted that people thought he should be ashamed of what he did and maybe he should be ashamed, but he isnt because "I am not wired that way".
Effecting outcome of the game- Pete Rose is banned from baseball HOF because by betting, even for his own team, he may have made choices that were wrong to try to win the game, therefore altering how the outcome would actually be.
Accountability- Pete Rose is banned from the HOF because he needs to be held accountable for his wrong doings and actions.
Integrity of the HOF- Pete Rose is banned from the HOF because letting him in the HOF with the actions and wrong doings he perpitraded would deminish the integrity of the HOF.
WELL, I guess all of these are good, truthful, and factual arguements for keeping Pete Rose out of the HOF. Looking back, I cant say that Pete should be allowed to join the HOF, OR SHOULD HE?
I got a few things for you to look over.
Ty Cobb was an admitted racist. He purposely attacked fans for booing him(even a crippled woman!). He also purposely hurt, on atleast 9 occasions, fellow baseball players for reasons other than because it just happened in a game(ie. Slid into base and broke a guys arm etc).
Gaylord Perry, who sits on the HOF commitee, was proud to be know for being a "greaser" his whole career. He stated, many times, that he actually greased two spots incase the umps had him whipe down because they thought he was greasing the ball.
Orlando Cepeda served 10 months in jail for smuggling 160 pounds of dope. Now, it is safe to say that he didnt plan to smoke all 160 pounds himself.
Babe Ruth was notorius for commiting adultry and he actually purchased a child(illegally) for his wife!
so, lets review....
Ty Cobb- list of things he did that is keeping Rose out of the HOF....
1. charater
2. remorse
3. effecting outcome of games
4. accountability
5. integrety of the HOF

Gee, these "great men of the baseball HOF" did all of this and are still allowed to enter the great Hall?
Ok, so Rose maybe should be not allowed to join the HOF for his crimes against baseball. However, if you DO ban Rose then you need to REMOVE those I listed, plus many MANY more, including HOF members who were child and wife abusers, rapists, murderers, drug abusers/dealers, cheaters in the game, and the list goes on and on.
You can argue all you want but what I listed are FACTS. If you are to hold anyone accountable for their actions and list the reasons that you used to deny anyone entrance into the HOF, then you better make it across the board for everone. If those who did all of these crimes to society AND to baseball, and they are admitted into the HOF, then Rose belongs their too, PERIOD!!!
