I used to pitch for softball, and our coach showed us how to grip the ball so that the threads looked like the letter C. Then he had us just pitch to the catcher. We pitched whatever variation of the windmill windup we wanted and we learned which one created a more effective pitch. Each girl has a different style. Once they know what style works for them and they have their accuracy down, then they can work on slowly adding in speed.I hope i helped.

are you talking baseball or softball. either way, don't teach 9 and 10 year old to pitch fast from a mound. their elbows and shoulders are not fully developed and they could face long term problems with that. the best way to learn to throw is throwing long ball. even big league pitchers in their 10th year still warm up throwing long ball before they try to throw a heater off a mound.learn how to throw long with accuracy and speed will come with age and maturity.

You should'nt be teaching them speed but instead location. that age is too young to put strain on the shoulder by having them throw has hard as they can. At that age they should be focusing on their location and mechanics.Are the NY Mets making a new ballpark?
Go to eteamz, plenty of good info there. If your gonna start having young girls pitch get an O.K. from the parent first. The best way to learn is a pitching instructor, plain and simple.
