Why cant MLB put Roofs on all stadiums?

Question:what staduim shave roof? it could prevent rainouts and other weather outs plus it could bring warmth to the staudims and fans

Answers:

Has Roger Clemens ever taken steroids?

I like the weather and I love when it becomes a factor in the game. The game was meant to be played outside.

I feel stadiums that have a roof take away a lot of the charm of a baseball game. Let the sunshine in!

and the cold
and the wind
and the jet planes
and the shadows
and the heat
and the rain

What is Santa Clara University's baseball record for each of the past 5 years?

I argee completely, I'm from Toronto and we have the Rogers Centre, which has a retractable roof, and we NEVER have rain delays or snow delays.

I think they need to pass a rule stating that all new ball parks should have a retractable roof or be a dome, because that whole incident with the Indians was just silly.

Who will finish the 07 season with more Homers Pujols or Bonds. Please i don't need to hear about steriods.

#1 - Cost
#2 - Tradition...the game is meant to be played outdoors. I agree this season has started out a bit screwed up weather wise, but this isn't normal. Maybe some scheduling changes would help...theres enough domed stadiums and warm weather teams that the first week all games could be played in good weather. Of course that would mean that half the league plays their first week on the road every year...so I really don't see that happening.
#3 - Tradition again...you can't make Wrigley Field, or Fenway Park domed, and you can't get rid of them either.

Is it fair to let roger clemens get away with the kind of contract he has?

BASEBALL IS GOOD HOW IT IS. I KNOW THE SNOW IS A BIG ISSUE AND RESCHEDULING THE INDIANS-MARINERS SERIES BUT WHATEVER. too much money and don't ruin tradition of the game with wind

Red sox or yankees?

They put roofs on most the stadiums who have risks of snow or rain outs and baseball is supposed to be played outdoors.

Would you enjoy a 1-0 baseball game?? Explain?

I don't know about every stadium, but I would put in on Jacobs field.Open the roof and have nice weather when it's nice out close it when it's not.Or at the very least have the Indians,White Sox,and whoever else plays up north that don't have a roof, play them in Tampa Bay,or Houston or even San Diego.Hopefully this won't happen next year.

Whats better?

Mike Schmidt once hit the top of the Astrodome and Jim Thome hit the top of the Astros current fields roof. So you can't have the best players in the World hitting with a chance of it getting knocked down by the roof.

Bring back the good old days?

Some ball parks like Wrigley Field and Fenway Park are not suitably built for domes. Both are old parks and almost national treasures. Neither one has ever cost TAXPAYERS millions of dollars from greedy owners who demand new parks. Let's live without the domes and be inconvenienced a bit.

Chow!!

What is the best invnetion ever made?

First of all, baseball has lost a lot of their fan base. The majority of who is left are the traditionalists. Domes and traditionalists don't always go together. They're going to bring down Yankee Stadium. That's enough. Don't try to turn other ball parks into domes. Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Dodger Stadium, those are Hallowed Ground.

Second, cost. There is no cost effective way to do it without building 10+ completly new stadiums. The new yankee stadium is gonna cost 1.02 BILLION dollars. only 220 million of that came from the city. Small market teams can't afford to make an investment like that when the freak occurence that happened this year with the weather isn't going to always happen and things are just fine the way it is.

And finnally The weather is part of the game. It's shouldn't always be "sunny and 72 with calm winds"

Why doesn't my gf play? what can i say to him to make him feel better?

i suppose your going to pay for it all ...i hope you have a huge bank account.and they would raise the tickets about $50 dollars more

Will the jays win tonight?

I agree...it would have prevented the Indians and Mariners problems

How do you think the MLB would be like now?

It's all about the money. Do you want to pay for the costs of putting that roof on, because that is who will pay for it. Ticket prices would rise dramatically as would the city's tax base to help in paying for it and doing other "necessary" improvements.

Bases loaded. Runner on first. Two outs, one and one count. The pitcher throws strike two, the catcher think

Every game under a roof would be so boring! Besides that baseball in the different climates makes it interesting anyway!

How do I transfer my yahoo account to another account I own?

Because part of the love of baseball is being outside. With the sun blaring in the summer and the wind roaring in the fall. It makes the game less predictable. I love sitting in the sun eating a hot dog and watching the Great All American Pastime. Its just the way it is. A roof on all stadiums would take something away from the game.

At this point, does it seem like baseball is much more concerned about steriod abuse?

because it's baseball. indoor stadiums, except in very cold weather cities are lame. weather has always been apart of baseball and always will be a part.

Will arod retire a yankee?

Money. It cost a heck of a lot more money to cover a stadium than to leave it open air. There has to be a big financial advantage to having a dome to make it worthwhile.

Is alex rodriguez ging to stay in New York?

becuase it is the choice of the clubs and not MLB. Plus there are some cities like cincinnati where it is just not worth the investment besides the revolt that would occur if they reds were forced to add a dome

How do you calculate baseball's earned run average, ERA!?

Because baseball wasn't meant to be an indoor sport.

Putting a roof on a stadium changes the air quality. The ball acts differently. It doesn't feel like "real" baseball.

Besides, baseball is meant to be played during the summer, when it's comfortable to be out even in the far reaches of the North. The scheduling has gotten a little ridiculous with two rounds of playoffs before the World Series, so they're almost playing into November, but even then, baseball is best outdoors. They probably should try to schedule more April games in southern cities, but I can see where that would be difficult. This has been an unusual year. Cleveland does not normally get 10 inches of snow in April!
