.. I am! ... by a long shot! .... other than tha t.. Babe RuthHow can I convince my son to not be afraid of the baseball?
Josh Gibson... no question. 89 home runs in a season, 75 in another, LONG before steroids were ever an issue... and then there is Sadaharu Oh, who launched 868 homers over a twenty-two season career. Both were professional ball players. MLB is not the only league in the world... but of course they have the gall to call it "The World Series". Just a bit hard to believe.Who will get more saves for the Rangers, Eric Gagne or Akinori Otsuka?
1. Ted Williams2. Ty Cobb
3. Tony Gwynn.
Neither of these three ever went downhill. Ted Williams took a pitch and had overall better plate discipline than both Cobb and Gwynn and the fact that he served in two foreign wars and came back without missing a beat sets him apart for me.

Who do you think is the all time best MANAGER in MLB?
My top 51) Babe Ruth - He was far ahead of everyone else in that era.
2) Ted Williams - He lost several years during his prime to military service.
3) Ty Cobb - Probaby the meanest player ever to put on a uniform, but an unbelievable hitter.
4) Willlie Mays - Badly hadicapped by playing in Candlestick Park.
5) Pete Rose - Not a power hitter, but has more hits than anyone in MLB history.
Who are the top five lifetime base stealers?
Ted Williams.....DuhA number of good choices listed.
I go with the Babe. He's the only player to rank in the career top ten in each of the three Triple Crown categories (avg, hrs, rbi). For many years also was the all-time leader in walks.

Ted WilliamsHow is MLB going to react about David Ortiz admitting to taking steroids.?
Just want to add something I saw some years ago. Ted Williams was being interviewed, and was asked how he felt being regarded by so many as the best hitter of all time. I don't remember his complete answer, but he did say that he didn't believe he was as as good a hitter as Rogers Hornsby.More Questions & Answers...
