Does a fielder's choice groundout increase a batters onbase percentage?
Question:There is a runner on 1st base, I ground a ball to the 3rd baseman, who throws to 2nd base to force the runner out, but I am safe at first. I know it does not count as a hit, and I am technically 0-1 for the game, but does my on base percentage increase (my on base for this example is 1.000 or 0.000)?
Answers:
IT DOES NOT!

Has Mark McGuire ever tested positive for steroids or masking agents?
The answer is no. You get OBP for only hits, walks, and hbp.Yes, your on-base percentage increases. On-base percentage only counts that you got on base, it does not matter how you got there (walk, hit, hit-by-pitch, 3rd strike dropped, error, etc.). As long as you are standing on first base as a result of your at-bat, your on-base percentage increases.
A fielder's choice counts against your OBP, and is treated like an out statistically.
How to put more velocity in your pitches?
Yes, the on base percentage will go up every time you reach base. Youre right though, you will be 0-1 for the game and it won't count as a hit, but if you ever reach base, it counts as an on base. How do I get All Star game tickets in San Francisco this year?
It does not. It is treated the same as an out, so the on-base-percentage, drops after the play.Only get OBP for hits, walks, and HbyP. You're on base percentage decreases because you are charged with an at bat, but not credited with officially reaching base for scoring purposes.
