Why do the giants get on a major win streak (8 games) and then get swept?

Players coming out of HS are eligible. If they go to a juco, they can sign until the day before the next year's draft. If they go to a 4-yr school, they must sign before they begin classes, or wait until after their junior year in order to be eligible again.
