I usually just like to look at questions regarding the Astros, but intimidator's asinine response was too much to pass up. 1st-Their offense will be just fine, they will be in the top few in runs scored. 2nd-Wasted money on Clemens? ERA of 2.30, 103K's in 113.1 innings last year, 1.87 ERA (<--Not a typo) 185K's in 211.1 innings in 2005. I can't remember the other guy that was doing this in his mid 40's, but his first name was Nolan and the last I heard he was playing for a team called the HOFers in some Cooperstown place, where ever that is. 3rd-What other players should we have kept? Other than Beltran, there wasn't really anyone worth keeping. And we offered Beltran $100 million and he still left! Thus explaining all the boos when he comes to visit. 4thThe Astros should and will keep Ausmus until he can't squat anymore. You abviously have no idea what ML catchers do, it ain't all hitting. Have you ever heard a catcher 'call a good game' or 'handles the staff well'? He is the best. Period. I don't care if he hits .225 with 25 RBI's that is why Drayton pays him, he has a degree from Dartmouth for cryin' out loud. 5th-Everett is one of the most slick fielding SOB's in the league he already has 2 errors this year (same inning, I believe) so he will commit one on each on Memerial, Independence and Labor Day and thats it. But, fans like you will rip him for it. Biggio is one of the most underrated players of all time. He plays all out, every pitch, every ground ball, every game, every day. Every few hits he passes up someone that plays on the same team as that Nolan guy. He's on that hit list thing with guys I've never heard of: Kaline, Boggs, Keeler, Hornsby and some jacka$$ by the name of Ruth.
i am a huge astros fan but realistically i dont think they have a shot at the world series. they have to work on their offense more. that and they need to improve on pitching also. they shouldve never wasted all that money on clemens the last 2 years. i like clemens but that was too much money to spend when they couldve got or kept other players. i think if the astros went out and got a catcher, shortstop, one outfielder and a couple of starting pitchers they would be good to go. hopefully theyll do something at the trade deadline. my favorite player on the astros is craig biggio. Its not a bad team, but the starting pitching doesn't WOW me. Behind Oswalt you've got Jennings, Williams, and Rodriguez. That's not the caliber of a rotation that can get them into the post season.
