Is it sick that I enjoy Baseball Brawls?

Question:I know it can detract from the actual game, but I really find the occasional fight and ejection quite enjoyable! The battle and the pitchers hitting players is so intense. Of course, I wouldn't want to see any of my boys getting hurt. I just think sometimes baseball gets a bit bland and it spices the game up a bit.

What team or teams in your opinion have been the biggest disappointment in the past five years? And why?

Some people watch hockey for the fights, and NASCAR for the crashes. So why not the same for baseball? It is exciting and makes the game more interesting. Now if we can just figure out why in heck people watch golf, then a real mystery will be solved! :-)

Are the dodgers going to trade James Loney Why don't they bring him up hit 389 at AAA 406 in the Spring?

You enjoy watching your kids fight? How old are they? Grade school. That is bad parenting.

Is there an update for MVP baseball 2005 for 2007 rosters?

Heightens up the rivalry. When I saw the Red Sox and Yankees duke it out in 2003, it got my blood pumping.

ESPN2 good idea?

no

Which 2 Baseball teams do you think will be in the "World Series" this year? AND...?

Not at all I think everyone enjoys a good brawl now and then. I think they should occur more often. I bet there will be one next time Carlos Zambrano faces the Brewers because he was talking crap about their lineup the other day.

Why cant they understand?

If you have to ask if something's sick, then it probably is.

Who is going to take it all this year in MLB 2007?

It's only good if the teams really hate each other. The best one I've ever seen was between the Braves and Padres. The first batter of the game was hit, and out for the rest of the game, and after that, it was on. The benches cleared 4 times, including once right after an ejection.

What is the record number of pitches thrown during a single at bat, including balls, fouls, strikes, etc.?

Yes and no. Ejections are occur often and the player/coach is ejected for a reason so no. Many coaches argue a call because it is their responsibilty to help the player argue a questionable call. Brawls however are a little out of place. Sure they spice up the game, but don't you think the game of baseball should be more controlled as of the players' tempers? We don't want any player under any circumstances to get hurt. BTW, Im glad i see a girl enjoying the game.

What MLB team has overcome the biggest deficit to come back and win their division?

No you're not "sick". However, that's the problem with athletes nowadays... their egoes, and there's also a lack of class in sports nowadays as well... that's why i'm a Yankees' fan. If u enjoy the fighting and if u ever think that just pure, non-violent baseball can get "a bit bland", then u appearently aren't a true baseball fan.

Why do yankee fans have such hatred in their hearts?

Well, it's ok. It does spice things up a little. Go A's!!

Who was the 1st Yankee to win the AL mvp?

I totally agree with you. Baseball brawls do spice up the game. But a brawl ain't nothing unless true rivals are duking it out. Ex: Red Sox- Yankees, Giants-Dodgers, A's-Angels.

How many of you women play softball?

No, not at all. Some people only watch hockey for the fights, and nascar for the crashes, and that's a life and death situation.

Plus that's one of the great things about baseball. If one of your teammates is getting into it, you got your whole team backing you up, in the other sports nobody has anybody's back.

ps. Its good to see a poster recognize the A's and Angels as a true rivalry. It never gets mentioned, I know it can't even come close to the Yankees and Red Sox, but no other rivalry in all of sports can compare. As a life long Angels fan, I always look forward to facing the A's. Its almost guarenteed to be a good close game.

Is it just me?

Well, I'll tell you, baseball fights are so rare, the players are so inept at fighting (I love the "throw the glove at the charging recently hit batsman" move) and there seems to be more dancing than fighting, I gotta agree. And as long as no one gets hurt and Tommy Glavine, ex excellent hockey player is not involved. Nomar would probably get hurt just watching it...

Who is the best rookie in baseball right now beside, Daisuke Matsuzaka.?

Their's nothing like a good old fashioned baseball brawl! It adds a dramatic effect to the game. I enjoy them, as long as no one gets seriously hurt.

Which teams will win each division in the mlb and who will the wild cards be?

No. It is fun to watch. It's like your getting two for one.(Baseball and Wrestling) It makes the rivalry better.

I know ESPN won't say this because bias.. But does anyone fear the Anaheim Angels? 6 game lead?

I don't know about brawls, but I think that playing the game aggressively and in a risky way is a fun part of the sport. Part of the tradition. I think of Ty Cobb at the plate. Walter Johnson with a high-and-in. Some chit chat and taunting back and forth among batters, catchers, pitchers. All done with a grin; it's a game. Umpires are a bit tricky; respect authority.

It's all about talking the talk and walking the walk with one's performance. That's an acceptable level of play.

Brawls are a tad "bush league," if I can term it that way.

In baseball, how do you know where the play is?

no, it's not sick.
