Could MLB have done a better job handling the Seattle-Cleveland series?

Question:I'm not a Cleveland or Seattle fan, but that entire 4 game series has been postponed due to weather. Could MLB have handled it better and how?

Answers:

The Mariners suck, yet people still root for them. Why ohhhh why?

well one thing they could have done is schedule an april game with seattle in the dome instead of an out door facility. i know i know this is not the norm but what the heck if you live in an area that has inclement wheather than you need to have a dome or retractable roof. you dont take chances on losing games or rescheduling in september when the season is winding down and the players need all the rest they can get to get ready for the playoffs. its a no brainer to me. and secondly they need to shorten the season by 2 weeks in april and 2 weeks at the end of the season to avoid a world series with bad wheather and to avoid this situation. and they need to stop inter-league play because it takes up competition within the league schedule and those games could be better served being played against their respective leagues and divisions. plus that the players hate these games pure and simple they say they play them enough in spring training.

Who will win the series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Anaheim angels?

Moving Cleveland to Mil. will help for now until the snow is cleaned up.

The AL owns the NL when it comes to interleauge play ?

What were they supposed to do? You can't play baseball in the snow? I do not know what MLB could have done short of moving the Series to Seattle after checking the long term weather forcast - then moving a future series to Cleveland.

Nobody can control the weather

Are you going to acknowledge Barry Bonds as the home run king?

Well, they should definately never schedule a four game series in the north so early in April where the two teams will not play each other again this year.
The MLB should schedule teams in the north with outside stadiums mostly away into domes or teams in the south and when they do play at home, they should schedule them against division teams to give them room to make up the games through double headers since the teams play each other so often.

What should the new Oakland A's name be?

What they should have done is known that the weather in the Midwest this time of year is awful so they should have scheduled games early in the year where the home team plays in a fair weather location or in a stadium with a retractable roof.

Where can I buy a print of the blown call by umpire Don Denkinger in the 1985 World Series?

Yeah. They should have contacted God and told him to cool it with the snow.

Who will win the World Series In Baseball This Year?

I think they could have picked a better spot than Milwaukee. They should have had them play in San Juan at the field the Expo's played on. Of course this wouldnt happen if the guys who made the schedules arent such idiots. Have the first couple weeks of the season played in stadiums that are in places that you know arent going to have weather issues (LA, Houston, Atlanta) and all the domed stadiums. Did anyone else however find it ironic that Cleveland is playing these home games in Milwaukee which is where the movie Major League was filmed.

RIP... Was Josh Hancock wearing a seat belt?

Of course, They could make a point of scheduling at least the first week of games to be played in only warm weather parks. That would mean that the following team would each have opened at home, and would do so every year:

Giants
Athletics
Dodgers
Angels
Padres
Diamondbacks
Astros
Rangers
Marlins
Devil Rays
Mariners
Twins
Brewers
Blue Jays

That's 7 AL teams and 7 NL teams, and that works perfectly. Yes, I know there are 16 teams in the NL, but the Reds, as a nod to their status as the oldest professional baseball franchise, always open at home.

The Giants and Padres are already facing each other for a second series this season. In fact, the California teams all opened against warm-weather teams. The only warm-weather team that opened at home, against a cold-weather team, was the Astros, who opened by hosting the Pirates. None of this makes the slightest bit of sense. And some opened in cold-weather cities!

Now, MLB will tell you that the same teams can't always open at home, because if they open at home, they close on the road. That's just a plain old bald-faced lie. Cincinnati closes at home this season, and that will be for the 4th time in 10 years.

In fact, a number of cold-weather teams said that they did not want to open at home this season, but MLB basically thumbed their noses at that idea.

I have wanted for years now to see the first full Sunday of the season and the final Sunday of every month to be a planned DH day throughout baseball. That alone shortens the playing time by a week without shortening the season. None of these could be day-night DH's, but I'd give the owners a break by making the tickets for these doubleheaders 50% more expensive than single game tickets. Yes, I'd charge more for a double-header, but not the price of two tickets.

Then I'd change the post-season schedule. I'd take the LDS back to a best of three, and the LCS back to a best of five, and I'd drop the scheduled off-days in each. That shortens the maximum length of the postseason by another week and decreases the risk of playing the World Series in a freezer.

But, I don't run MLB and the imposter who does doesn't care.

What does E.R.A stand for in baseball ?

Yes. For the fist 2 weeks they should have scheduled north teams to play on the road against teams in warmer cities or at least scheduled them to play in domes or stadiums with retractable roofs. Hopefully the morons who do the schedules have learned their lesson and do it differently next year.
