What does an Average 'AA' Baseball Player earn a year?
Question:I know they are signed under contract, so I believe that there is a league minimum and that's probably around 6 figures, but my friend and I went to a ball game last night (Of course the Portland Sea Dogs lost, 3-1... Again) She has a hard time why they would get paid so much, I try to explain that they're under contract with the Red Sox, they're supposed to be the next big thing... What do they get paid?

Actually, most players in "AA" baseball get paid well under 6 figures. The league minimum only applies to major league contracts. I would say the average salary for "AA" would be anywhere between $30 and $40K. (Obviously some could get more) And I'm not completely sure about this, but I don't think that money is guaranteed. Only when they get to "The Show" do most players get their guaranteed money. (Other than signing bonuses.)Red Sox fans hateful and mean?
My son's first AA win was against the Portland Sea Dogs. Their salary is less than $2,000 per month and it is only paid during the season. Many AA players are making ends meet by supplementing a portion of their signing bonuses. Players are also given incentives for good performances as well as longevity in each level they achieve above High A. Income comes from other sources as well(baseball cards, video games, etc). I hope this answers your question. I'll be in New Hampshire for their series next week against Portland. I'd wish you good luck but.well, you understand.I'm the only girl in my baseball league, and my team is being sexist...?
Actually, you're wrong. With exception to top prospects who sign big contracts out of the draft (thats maybe about 5% of minor leaguers), your average minor league player makes roughly $1200 a month.
$1200 per month, for 6 months of the season = about $7,200 a season. And then they go and get jobs during the off-season. It's not a great living, especially for the non-prospects who fester in the minors for 10+ years. They do it for love of the game, and the chance to make it to the bigs, where the minimum is about $325,000 a year now.
At AAA the average player makes around $40k a year. I heard somewhere that in A ball they make $250/week but that may not be up to date.
Barry Bonds younger brother Bobby Bonds Jr.,played AA ball,he made around 700/week
