I live in Texas but I am a huge Red Sox fan. Is there a way around the MLB blackouts?
Question:I was wondering if anyone has found a way to trick the DirecTv system in to thinking that it is the local area (say Boston) in order to be able to watch specific regional channels. I would really like to be able to watch NESN for all the Sox games, but as it stands now, I am blacked-out.
Answers:
its a great thing and its like 2 red sox games for every dollar 89.95
plus, u can watch any other game that is not on your local television or any game that is a national telecast (i.e. ESPN, ABC, etc.)
i would recommend this as i am now im my second year of the MLB.TV service
its a great tool, and i use it a lot seeing how i live in Syracuse, NY and i do not get NESN on t.v. here either.
hope this helps.
oh yeah, and to answer your question, the systems use the billing address for your television, same for MLB.TV
the billing zip code for the credit card you use is what zip code you are considered to be "local" within that network.
i am not positive, but i'm pretty sure that is how direct tv works too.
Which of the AL Central Teams has the best shot at winning it all?
You can watch all the games streaming at MLB.com. I think it's like $20 for the season. I do it so i can watch the Twins while I'm traveling for business. It's pretty good quality and worth it.How do I get a pro scout to come to my softball league in Whitfield, AL?
I would not suggest paying huge amounts to get NESN... believe me, I am within reach of NESN land... and it is so much 'red sox nation' garbage... its barely baseball anymore, its like... reality tv with the theme of baseball... MLB.com may be the cheapest and best way to watch the games. When I am out of distance of a game I just go to redsox.com and watch their play by play games. It is free, and it gives you every pitch. It is a heck of a lot better than nothing. Don't miss tomorrow's game. Dice-k's first game in Fenway. WOOHOO! Its going to be absolute nuttyness. Goodluck with your search. What company makes the best youth baseball bats? Is the lightest possible the best?
u might want to check out MLBtv premium. i heard they show all the games. Will Roger Clemens come back to pitch for the astros again next year?
i dont have dish and atleast you dont like the rangers.lol.but i do believe they have a mlb pakage just like the have sunday ticket.i dont know how expensive it is though.i was listening to the espn radio the other night and the mentioned howmuch of a bad idea it is to have a mlb package cos of the number of games.and to putt it simply baseball is boring on tv.but they did say it would be perfect for the fanatics like yourself.check it out.Why don't fans support the braves or marlins?
Try the Extra Innings package, which is now available to dish and cable viewers. Extra Innings allows you to watch games that are out of your area every week. I think it's $175 to $180 a year. Can a pitcher record a win and a save in the same game?
If you live in Texas you shouldn't be blacked out of out of market games like the Red Sox, they may not show all of the games but you get some - if you have Extra Innings package. The only time you should be blacked out is if they are playing the Rangers and then you should find the game on a local channel or fox sports. If you order MLB online it will be the same games you order from DirecTV or cable and the same blackout rules apply. And MLB online is $15 a month or 90 for the year for basic. You can check your blackout teams going to the sign up page and entering your zip code.

Why is the firstbasemans glove shaped differently than any other glove?
nope sorry, get direct tv or something of that sort, and become a marlins fanDoes your cable company have any sports packages? Or you can watch them online. I know there is a way, but it depends on your cable or satalite provider.
How do you think Matsuzaka will pitch this season?
You should only be blacked out when they're playing the Rangers or if it's broadcast on FOX or ESPN.MLB.TV will also block you during these times.
Call the dish company to find out exactly what's going on and if you don't like the answers- call MLB - you can find their numbers on "contact us" on the MLB home page.
And trust me- it can't be worse than living in NY and having to listen to NY Broadcasters when they come to town!
Why can't you blow your hand with the ball in it in baseball?
I think the only way around it is to order the MLB Extra Innings package. I get NESN for all the Sox home games and some of the away ones. The other away games are carried by their local sports station (ex. YES, Fox West, etc.).More Questions & Answers...
