Alot of people in Hong Kong speak english , not Japan. I was in both japan and hong kokng for about three months each. And no he does not speak english, but he is taught certain words during spring training and the catchers are taught certain words and phrases to help communicate.Who is the best young player in the Majors that noone has heard of?

No, he does not. However, I am sure there are some phrases and words that mean something to him as he communicates with his catcher. Veritek is very savvy (can't hit, though) so his handling of the pitchers including Dice-K is just outstanding.Chow!!
