When baseball history is discussed 25 years from the day Barry goes yard for the 756th time, no one will give a crap about anything other than what really matters-the guy hit the hell out of a baseball. Even if he did juice as others have been proven to, he is the sole owner of his conscience, and in my mind, since I know now he is subject to every drug test known to man and he still rips the cover off with the pressure tightening, how are we to even know if allegations need be made anymore? He is the best home-run hitter in major league history come the day he is, and NOTHING should diminish his mighty accomplishment nor his trip to Cooperstown. There are guys who know him personally and swear hes the greatest thing since sliced bread. But he is a prickly character, and alot of people who have come to know him cant stomach him. I'm of the opinion that Barry's personality has two sides. Depending upon the side you happen to be on, that's the Barry that you'll make your judgment on(if you can find a Sports Illustrated piece on Gary Sheffield , written within the last year or two, Gary gives his impression of Barry based on his experiences with him. I don't think anyone on here actually knows the guy. To me he is the typical spoiled super star. Like Ali, don't particualry like what I have seen of him, but got to give him his due. Hell of a ball player.I've met Barry Bonds personally, at AT&T Park, in my neighborhood and at work many times. He is intelligent (a million times more than the negative answerers here) kind, not snobbish, family oriented, not a jerk, willing to chat and sign autographs and really down-to-earth. All-in-all, a cool guy and someone I'd love to have as a neighbor.
Most people just talk crap just because of the media and the false stories about using illegal performance enhancing substances. There is no proof of steroid use and if anyone here thinks they are so smart, prove it to us and provide something that shows a positive test result.
