I agree. The competitive balance in baseball is much better than a few years ago (seven different world champions in the past seven years). In fact, based on the distribution of titles baseball has more competitive balance than the NFL.What will it take for the Giants to get Brad Lidge?
The only reason I say no is that the Yankees ca still buy their way into the playoffs every year whereas the other twenty-nine teams cannot. Unless baseball is willing to accept the fact money will never be balanced, they need to institute a system like tne NBA or NFL have and make things truly equal.Four teams baseball needs to make the playoffs to have a lot of fan and media interest?
yeah I think in the next decade or two it will take time if they let it stay that long. It should bring the "lower" market teams up to be able to perform with the larger market teams. Then again look at the last couple of WS winners... St. Louis, ChiSox... Redsox ain't a good example but then the Fla. Marlins. Also the Yankees have yet to win a world series with a payroll over 100 mill.Baseball questions for sports fans?
one of my main concernes is that isn't a minimum payroll. I don't care if New York buys a team (they still can't pitch) to win with but teams that get luxury tax money from them should have to at least spend. Their are a couple teams with extremely low payrolls. What is the incentives for fans to show up.More Questions & Answers...
