I met Roger Clemens at ESPN the Weekend. I spoke with him for about a minute and he signed an autograph for me.Speaking of ***holes, also at ESPN the Weekend I met Ben Rotlisberger(QB Steelers) and he wouldn't spend a single second talking with his fans. I don't know why he even went. All he did was make the occasional appearance at sportsenter and NFL Live and then walked around with his five bodyguards not stopping and chatting with fans.
Another great althlete that was there was Bill Walton (former NBA player and Hall of Famer). He was just GREAT! He was all over the place. He was giving a basketball clinic to young basketball fans. He was THE nicest athlete I've ever met.
This ESPN the Weekend thing I've been talking about is great. Every spring they have it at MGM Studios. It is great for sports fans. They have interactive games and shows, like NFL Live, COld Pizza, and Sportscenter.

David Ortiz, Johnny Damon, Derek Lowe, Jon Lester, Coco Crisp, Jonathan Papelbon, and Terry Francona. All were real cool, and Johnny was about to leave the park when he saw me reaching out with a ball to autograph. He saw me, looked me in the eye, smiled, and came over and authgraphed a baseball for me. This was pre New York. His wife was ready to leave, but he took the time out of his night to autograph my baseball.Does anyone know if ken oberkfell or bob horner were in spring training with the Orioles?
bob feller, andy pettite, paul oneal, hideki matsui, carlos delgado and kelvim escobaryou might think paul oneal would be a jackass because of the way he plays and argues but, he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet feller, pettite, matsui, delgado and escobar were also nice

I've spoken with George Brett on many occasions and I've also umpired for his sons AAU games in Lenexa, KS. Speaking to him away from the field he's a great guy, when your'e an umpir he's the biggest jackass that walks the earth. He's one of those guys that stands directly behind homeplate and lets you know when he thinks a call was bad. Its hard to argue with him though, I mean he is George Brett.Believe it or not, Barry Bonds is the most courteous person I've met. I worked at EA Sports and a friend or relative of his worked there as well. I used to see him on a weekly basis before he moved to LA. He shook our hands, chatted a bit and never acted like how the media portrays him. I received an autograph, a handshake and shared a short conversation. Very well worth the meeting!
I met Marquis Grissom, Eric Chavez, Mark Mulder and Ray Durham as well in the SF Bay Area and they are genuine as they come! Very friendly and will take the time to recognize their fans! I've never encountered any primadonnas or showoffs.

Ruben Sierra, Lou Brock, and Reggie Jackson were probably the rudest players I ever met. Ivan Rodriguez, Cal Ripken, Kirby Puckett, Boog Powell, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Johnny Welaj, Mark Belanger, Bob Grich, Dave Burba, Whitey Kurowski, Kenny Singleton, Paul Blair, Billy Ripken, Al Bumbry, Johnny Callison, Robin Roberts and Juan Gonzales were some of the nicest.Omar Vizquel, Manny Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, David Justice, Travis Hafner, Sandy Alomar, David Bell, Marquis Grissom, Bob Wickman, Jim Thome, Jody Gerut----personal friend with Ryan Fierabend of Seattle Mariners-went to High school with him at Grafton Midview in Ohio... Josh Bard, met Chipper Jones and his Uncle during 1995 World Series in Cleveland at Cooperstown Restaurant where my wife use to waitress.
Kenny Lofton was arrogant as can be---Sandy Alomar gave me some signed cleats, catchers mask and batting gloves when I met him through a friend who worked in Indians clubhouse. Omar took about 4 pictures with my wife and I and signed 3 official 1997 stamped World Series balls. Jim Thome autographed a replica Thome Jersey and spent 5 minutes talking to my wife and I. Bob Wickman I met at Dave and Busters and he let me buy him a Coors Light after saying no 3 times--then he bought me two pitchers of Bud after signing some Dave and Buster Napkins and posing for one picture---Bob Wickman is a blue collar "One of the guys"--the best of all of them.the rest of the guys were pretty much forgettable. David Bell the worst---one of baseball's biggest jerks. Saw him outside of player parking at Jacobs Field while he was with Mariners--a little girl (maybe 7-9) asked him to sign a ball--he walked to the fence -grabbbed the Sharpie she held--threw it out on the street and walked in the stadium to a chorus of boos. The taxi driver who dropped him off said that Bell made him stop at 4 different places and left no tip---class act.
