Does the softball bat really make a difference?
Question:Im playing in men's league softball. Several of these teams crank home runs on us 6,7,8 a game. They also all have $300-$400 bats. We use $40-$60 bats from Walmart. Can the bat really make that much difference and if so what would be a good, moderatly priced bat. I have a hard time when thinking of dishing out $300+ on a bat that I can buy for $50! Any thoughts?

Kind of the same premise as golf. Give Tiger my driver, and he will hit is far, but no where near as far as he hits his Nike.The more expensive bats have a better compression.

Cheap bats have no pop. Those $400 bats allow guys who have no business hitting home runs crush the ball. It is difficult to compete when those bats are allowed and you don't have one. Some leagues will outlaw certain types of bats. If you want to compete, forget Wal-Mart and think about Easton. They usually have a ton of used softball bats for cheap. But you should definatly spend more on a bat than $50.

yes it does, more technology in the better bats and u get more pop out of them. I noticed it the last year i played.Why cant the dodgers beat the angels?
Yes the better bats will hit the ball harder and further. But they only enhance your own ability. If you can hit a ball 260 with a single wall bat, that may be 280 with double wall, 300 with composite.More Questions & Answers...
