Pretty good team. I might play Furcal instead of Peralta because of steals, but this team should be in contention.How early would i be able to play first base and hit after having tommy john surgery?
im not big on swisher, pods, and patterson. but most teams look good early. keep an eye on the waiver wire, thats where you win leagues.Would the Indians lineup of the late 90's still be formidable today?
On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 7. Varitek is getting older, and he's nowhere near as good. If I were you, I would look to see if someone like David Ross, Cincinnati's catcher (.255 avg, 21 HRs, and 55 RBI in 90 games last season) is avaliable, because he can't do worse than Varitek.Morneau was a great pick for you. I can't argue there.
I'm sure you can get a better second baseman than Brian Roberts. Someone like Brandon Phillips Cincinnati's Second Baseman (I think Cincy's players are often overrated and overlooked) would do much better.
A-Rod is a solid pick, again, won't argue (although he does strike out quite a bit).
Johnny Peralta's a pretty good pick, probably not a lot of FAs that would stick out as better replacement.
Your Outfield is probably your strong point, but I'm positive you can get a better outfielder than Scott Podsednik. I would at least start Mike Cameron over him.
As far as your utility goes, get someone who can get on base with a decent average and steal bases. Someone like Ryan Freel or Juan Pierre would be a good person to put there.
Your pitching is good overall, but if this is a keeper league, I would have gone for a few more younger guys (another SP and RP), but it looks nice!

Roberts is probably 2nd or 3rd best 2nd and Arod is top 2 as well.
Dump them for pitchers. Dotel is on the DL, so is Furcal.
Cameron should be in the starting 3, not podsednik. They seem to be platooning him against righties only.
C and SS seem to be the only weakness, but you can't have an all star at ever position.
I guess you don't have holds in your league. A good middle reliever is really valuable in your lineup when your starters aren't going. Rafael Soriano, Joel Zumaya, Scott Shields.that type of player.
