What's the big deal about Matsuzaka facing Ichiro?
Question:ESPN is going nuts about this match-up. What's the big deal about Matsuzaka facing Ichiro?
They've done it many times before in Japan. I've seen the at-bats on YouTube.
The real curiosity is to see how Matsuzaka will fare against other MLB batters.

Is it BS that a batter isn't credited with an RBI if a run scores from a double play?

it is because it is the best hitter in the AL against the best pitcher in the ALWho finds it annoying that most teams get a day off after the 1st game like me?
They are the two biggest superstars from Japan and i dk really why people act like its the first time there meeting its more like a rematchform the past i guess and everyone now i think has Dice K fever and want to find a story to follow him why couldnt the mets have got him :(Does the Braves' Matt Diaz deny his heritage?
It's just that he's the only person in MLB that has faced Matsuzaka so thats the only match up they can talk about. If there were other people DiceK had thrown against who are in the MLB they'd be talking about them too. It is a little stupid and they are making way to big of a deal about this...and im a sox fanWhy Is it that The NL Central has six teams when the rest have five...except for AL West with four?
It would be like Clemens and Bonds, for example, going to play in Japan and then hyping their first time against one another. And that's all it really is is HYPE!Here's a harder one that I KNOW can't be looked up.?
I know right! It's probably because it's Dice-K's home debut and it's against another Japanese guy... think he'll throw the mythical gyroball to him? lolIsn't the pay some of these players in baseball get ridiculous? The salaries are crazy.?
The main reason that this has been given so much publicity is beacuse of the fact that it is the first time the two have gone at it in USA. Believe me, its more for the fact that it is Dice-K fever and less for the fact that it is Ichiro facing a pitcher. I say wait until Matsuzaka loses his first one or two games, then most of us will no longer be subjected to the Dice-K fever, albiet he is a good pitcher.ANyone seen this video anywhere?
They're both Russian. Or Chinese. Whatever. In the Japanese Professional Baseball League are the pitchers pitching from an elevated mound?
It might be a big deal in Japan. What can I name my softball team?
Since the year 2000, the Japanese market has been steadily gaining strength, and therefor, sending more top-quality players over here to America to play in MLB.Ichiro is averaging ~226 hits per year. If he keeps his pace up for 20 years, which would be about right for a major league baseball player, he will have over 4500 hits, which would shatter the major league record currently held by Pete Rose (4256).
Dice - K is another top-quality player coming over from Japan, with an already impressive resume. He has his new pitch, the Gyro-ball, which may revolutionize the way that pitchers pitch in the future.
Although these players are not yet as famous in America, they are symbols for all people in Japan, and to see them doing well in America is a fantastic thing, not only for Japan, but for MLB as a whole.
Who do you like more... Joe Nathan Or Joe Mauer?
Best hitter vs the 2nd best pitcher(Santana is #1) is a pretty good story. The fact that its Dice K's first home game adds to the intrigue as well.i think its cuz theyre the two biggest stars from japan in the major leagues
Why do baseball umpires tuck their jackets into their pants?
I personally dont see the big deal about Dice K. To me its really sad they are making such a big deal about two japanese players facing each other. and the whole bit about ichiro being the best hitter in the AL? Come on. yeah right. I think there are bigger stories going on right now in baseball instead of whether or not Dice K (who thought of that one) can pitch to a fellow countrymanBest devensive players of all time by postion..?
I guess it's a "big" deal because Matsuzaka owned Ichiro when they were both playing in Japan. And by owned I mean Ichiro had a .235 avg, 1 HR, 8 Hit and 4 Runs in 34 At-bats. I hardly belive that with those numbers Matsuzaka owns Ichiro, but Ichiro does not excell agianst Matsuzaka. http://bp3.blogger.com/_i7zr9v0heag/rhty... http://matsuzaka.blogspot.com/Barry Bonds Poll & Josh Hancock Blog Please Read Yahooer's?
