The new Yankee Stadium will open in 2009.

How do you strike out right handed hitters?

As are the Mets. Both will be beside their team's current stadium. Both are slated to open in '09.

Third strike, catcher drops ball scoring?

yes, its rite across the street from the old one. . . but i think they shouldnt build it b/c theres too many memeroies in the old one.

There is at least one player at every position that has won back-to-back MVP's Can you name them?

Although I'm the farthest thing from a Yankee fan, It's sad that all these historic ballparks are being torn down. I also have heard that Wrigley may be on its way out as well. It's a shame.

I enjoy the new and improved fields...but part of me loves the outdoor day game feel...

I had the pleasure of visiting Wrigley during a day game this last summer for the first time and never had a better time at a ball game! Now I suppose I need to hit up Yankee and Shea this summer!

Still trying to find the song?

Excellant answer Patrick.

Fenway is a great example of a stadium that has made changes to bring in more $$, by adding seats ( I believe 6,000 when complete) - while not tearing down the legacy both literally and figuratively.

I have no problem, as a Met fan - with stadiums that are just horrid being razed for "new features" to attract more money, better experience - but Yankee stadium , Wrigley - etc should remain as active ball parks and their legacy should be intact.

Considering the allure of Wrigley - while a horrible team for many years - and the fact getting a ticket is hard to come by - the $$ is there. The problem is luxary boxes are a guaranteed high profit sale that occurs preseason and most new stadiums are built to accomodate this.

I will say - Turner Field here in Atlanta is flat out amazing. Great view regardless of where your seats are - even a great view at concessions, they have the Lexus box area that are cheap tickets, but with "comforts" to satisify that "higher need" and at the Chop House - you can buy a $1 ticket and stand, while enjoying a beer in a "rowdier" environment. They even kept the original 755 wall of Aaron - though its part of the parking lot - but still exists.

Lupin - the current stadium has been there almost 75 years now - there goes the "we don't stand for that too long" and as a native NYker and Mets fan who lived in the Bronx - I would go to at least 20 games a year at Yankee just for the history. As I mentioned - Fenway is doing the right thing, while others do the easy thing. NO one said baseball would die if these stadiums were torn down - its a matter of principle and economics, which you rightfully stated. And btw - the majority of new stadiums are financed by taxes, i.e. fans - we certainly have a say in the legacy factor - and BoSox fans are making a huge statement by doing it fiscally right and retaining the allure of Fenway.

What team has the best minor league system and best prospect?

Yes. Go the the Yankess.com and you can see developments in the drop down box. Same with the Mets if you elect to see the enemy.

It will be close to the current stadium
It should be collisual as with anytihing the Yanks do.

Mike myers question?

Yes, they have been building it for a while now. It's opening in 2009.

As far as the people who have a problem with tearing down historic stadiums, they need some perspective. Many historic stadiums have been torn down in the last 75 years and baseball has survived. Stadiums get old and run-down, neighborhoods and areas change and demand for seats grows. Yankee stadium is great (I'm a huge Yankee fan) but it's not the same stadium of Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio and Mantle. It's an aging, somewhat obsolete stadium and in New York we don't put up with things like that for too long. It's just the way the city is. Baseball moves on, just like it always has. Wrigley and Fenway are totally unique in so many ways. You can't expect every stadium in every area to endure like they have.

What are the chances of a MLB team having a perfect season (162-0)?
