Interference question?
Question:Lets say the first basemen is straddling the bag in a way that its not possibe to get back to the bag standing up ( at that time I didnt know how to dive headfirst) without running into him. The catcher now tries to pick you off and you run back to the bag and the baseman. Now, I run back to 1st and into the 1st baseman, causing the ball to fly past the basman. I the basman guilty of obstruction, because I thought the runner is entitled the baseline.
Answers:
Who is the better right fielder. Ordonez or Dye?
OBSTRUCTION is the act of a fielder who, while not in possession of the ball and not in the act of fielding the ball, impedes the progress of any runner. When obstruction occurs, the umpire shall call or signal "Obstruction."
If a play is being made on the obstructed runner, or if the batterrunner is obstructed before he touches first base, the ball is dead and all runners shall advance, without liability to be put out, to the bases they would have reached, in the umpire’s judgment, if there had been no obstruction. The obstructed runner shall be awarded at least one base beyond the base he had last legally touched before the obstruction. Any preceding runners, forced to advance by the award of bases as the penalty for obstruction, shall advance without liability to be put out.
In the situation you describe, it appears as if the first baseman is indeed guilty of a violation of Rule 7.06a (MLB), and as such, obstruction shall be called, the runner awarded second base, at the umpire's discretion.
Why are my MLB scores unavailable?
You can't interfere w/him unless it's a batted ball and he can';t interfere w/you if he's on the bag making a play on the ball.Get your butt up and run, you should be rounding 2nd and trying for 3rd by now
