Perfect Swing; Lost almost 5 years due to military service and might have broken Ruth's record if he had not missed time the average home runs per season speak for themselves; above average fielder; could hit for average as well as power as the .344 lifetime average says; would have been the 1st person to hit over 400 home runs and got 3000 hits if it was not for 5 years of service; his swing is taught to youngsters long after his retirement to show them the mechanics of the perfect swing to get the most out of hitting the ball with the entire body and not just the arms

How did Mark Ellis not win the Gold Glove last year?
Ty CobbBabe Ruth ninth best batting average 342, third on the homerun list 714, second best on-base percentage .470, best slugging percentage .689, third in runs with 2174, fifth in total bases 5793, second in RBI 2217, second in homeruns per at-bat 11.76, the career leader in OPS 1.11 , and runs created 2757. Plus he was an incredible pitcher with a .671 winning percentage and a 20 game winner twice.
Wild man Ty Cobb.
Nobody knows how good Babe Ruth would have been as a pitcher-his last 2 years in Boston he played over 100 games in the field because he was a better hitter than pitcher. People like to say that he could've been one of the greatest pitchers ever get away with it because of the lack of evidence against it-sine there's also a lack of evidence for it, it's just supposition, but he wasn't the best pitcher on the Red Sox when he played there-not even for a single year.
It's pretty hard to say 'greatest ever' when the players and game keep changing, but if you look at everything-power, average, speed, glove and arm-it was probably Willie Mays.
Who are the 3 current toughest players to get out in baseball?
reva p, you looser, he can ask whatever he wants, you looser. You don't need to report him. idiot. To answer your question, it can't be determined actually as best
best at what? running, hitting, slugging, pitching
Pitching- Bob Gibson
Hitting- Ted Williams
Slugging- Babe Ruth
Running- Rickey Henderson
Babe Ruth. He was a great pitcher for the Boston Red Sox when they won 3 world championships in 1915,1916, and 1918. After that he became the greatest slugger in the history of baseball winning 4 more world championships for the New York Yankees in 1923,1927,1928,and1932. To me being this well rounded makes him the greatest player in the history of baseball.

I like George Brett. He could hit for average, power, had amazing clutch, and was a good, versatile fielder. To top it all off, we was a great guy and team leader on and off the field. Are you buying the Chicago Cubs?
Pete Rose...He hustled on every playno matter what and was a great player..he's the hit king and led the league in batting many times and was probably the hardest worker in baseball. he took nothing for granted and flat out beat people. he deserves to be in the hall of fame because he played the game like it should be played! Will the astros win the next 4 games??
George Brett. I only recognize greatness when it comes in a Royals uniform, that leaves me very few people to choose form and Brett outshines them all.7 games out! can yankees catch boston this year?

Sandy KoufaxSimply he changed the rules of pitching on his own. They decresed mound height because his style of pitching gave him so much of an advantage. it has influenced so many pitchers today to model after his style and yet none are able to match his results.
