On an official baseball diamond, the bases are 90 feet apart. Official softball bases are only 60 feet apart. So the difference is quite large. Although, many little league baseball fields are closer to softball dimensions than baseball dimensions.

Could baseball in America be as big as it is without foreigner players?

Softball and Baseball can be played on the same field but you'll have to move the base lengths in for softball and the homerun fence is shorter in softball. Also most but not all softball diamonds are all dirt infields and baseball is usually grass except between bases.

What is wrong with the Philadelphia Phillies?

Bases in softball are 60 feet apart, in baseball its 90. Softball has no pitchers mound and the rubber is between 40 and 46 feet (depending on sex and age) from home plate in fastpitch, in baseball, there is a 10 inch mound that is 60' 6" from home plate. Softball fences are typically 180 - 240 ft from the plate, in baseball, they are typically 320 to 410 feet. technically, you could play it on the same field, but ti would be a pain to convert it each time!
