Who do you think is the greatest HERO in World Series?
Question:who do you think was the greatest hero in World Series?, who never lost faith in his team and won the World Series for his team?
i think it was Joe Carter, who led Blue Jays to World Series victory in World Series 1992 and 1993. Who's your Hero in World Series?
Answers:
An even better candidate is Sandy Koufax. He helped the Dodgers win the '59 Series before he found his control, fanned 15 Yankees to start off the '63 Series, then stayed out of Game 1 of the '65 Series to observe Yom Kippur, lost Game 2, then came back to pitch shutouts in Game 5 (on 3 days rest) and Game 7 (on TWO days rest AND the road) despite awful pain in his elbow. That his last game was a loss in Game 2 of the '66 Series wasn't his fault, as the Dodgers' shoddy defense and pathetic hitting betrayed him.
And I hate the Dodgers. But nobody hates Sandy Koufax. Hitting against him, that they hated: Willie Stargell said, "Trying to hit against Koufax was like trying to drink coffee with a fork."
What will it take for the Seattle Mariners to get better?
It pains me to say Bill Mazeroski in the 1960 World Series against the invincible Yankees.Am I the only Blue Jays fan on YA?
Here are some of my examples:Jose Rijo's pitching efforts for Cincinnati in 1990
Terry Francona's management of the Red Sox in 2004
Reggie Jackson for the Yankees in the 1970's
It would have to be the Sandman, Mariano Rivera. The guy is flat out sick come playoff time.
Who are some baseball legends?
Easy answer - Kirk GibsonKept out of the lineup by a leg injury, he pinch-hit with two outs in the bottom of the ninth with Mike Davis on base and the Dodgers down 4-3. Visibly wincing on each swing, he fouled off four pitches before he hit a slider into the right field stands off the A's immaculate relief ace Dennis Eckersley and limped around the bases while pumping his fists. It was his only at-bat in the Series
Who's the only player to hit a homer in the Allegheny River ON THE FLY at PNC Park in Pittsburgh?
Mazeroski of the Pirates, Carter of the Jays, Don Larson of the Yanks.Top 3 most exciting teams to watch currently in MLB?
ill say joe carter because he seemed like a great leader and teammate. the replay of his winning HR is just like seeing a happy kid run the bases and is a beautiful thing.i also am fond of louis gonzalez's flair off of rivera to win it in 01. mariano is as close to a lock as possible and gonzo had a lot of pressure.
kirk gibson though takes it for the reason of the answer above
Any softball chants out there?
I would have to say Reggie Jackson in the 1977 World Series against the Dodgers. He actually homered in "4" consecutive at bats. In his last at bat in game 5 in Los Angeles he homered. He then went on to hit 3 in a row in game 6 in New York.
Why is georgie porgie the top baseball answerer?
I'll say Bill Mazerowski or Joe Carter. Joe Carter of the 1993 Blue Jays and Bill Mazerowski of the 1960 PiratesIn baseball, if a manager uses every bench player...?
Look at Mickey Mantle's numbers in the world series. 18 HRs, 40 RBI's, 42 Rs, all records. In 6 seperate world series's Mantle hit 2 or more HRs. In 1960 3 HRs and drove in 11 RBI's in 7 games. He retired as a seven time world champion.
I caught a foul ball at a game....?
Luis Gonzalez in the 2001 World Series. Got the game winning hit off arguably the best postseason closer of all time (Mariano Rivera).Enter Sandman. The Witch. The Man, Mariano Rivera. The dude is lights out whenever Joe T needs him. People might point out the meltdown against the Dbacks, but by sheer numbers alone he was bound to give it up. You can only fail in the World Series by getting there...
What channel is the Yankee Red Sox game on today?
I was just going to say Joe Carter, and then I saw that you said it too. It's hard to argue with Carter. As a Yankee fan, it's hard for me to say this, but I guess you have to rank Curt Schilling up there too, for what he did in Arizona in 2001, and then in Boston in 2004.
Luis Gonzales with his big hit in the 2001 series has to rank.
And for an underdog special, how about Luis Sojo of the Yankees, who collected some HUGE hits in a couple of world series... especially in 2000 against the Mets.
Is there any chance that Babe Ruth was on some sort of steroid?
Joe Carter, he hit the greatest homerun in the history of baseball. The homerun ever kid who has ever picked up a bat. One out, 2 on, you are down by 1, lead the series 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth. And bang homerun. Game over World Series over season over. That’s all they wrote. It pains me to say that because I’m a Phillies fan.
oh and Kirk Gibson helping win game one of a series is easy hundred of players have done that.
What happened to the Cardinals?
Joe Carter did what every red-blooded boy and girl dreams about,he hit a HR to WIN the WS for his team.I know I've had that dream about a million times my selfWhat kind of cards do you collect if you want to start a collection?
Let me just say this:Whitey Ford STILL has the most World Series wins ever pitched, all time so...he's my hero! I mean, the lineup behind him was outstanding (to say the least), but that man gets minimal credit for completely owning the mound those years.
Why have Soriano leadoff? Will the Cubs make the playoffs?
Jack Morris throwing ten shutout innings to win game 7 of the 1991 World Series for the MINNESOTA Twins. This man should be in the Hall of Fame! How do you become a bat boy in MLB?
I've been a fan of the Dodgers all my life. I remember Bobby Thompson's home run and how I thought I would never heal afterwards. Thompson's homer was compounded by homers by Dusty Rhodes, Johnny Mize, Reggie Jackson, Mickey Mantle and others, homers that kept the Dodgers out of the Series or kept them form winning.Sure, the Dodgers had great pitching and that was nearly enough, but even Koufax couldn't make me completely happy. (Maybe he should have.)
And then Kirk Gibson came out of the dugout. For me that is the most beautiful moment in all of baseball. Thanks Kirk.
How do you do that sign Sammy Sosa does with his hands?
