i think the sox would like to see lester take the spot. this way they can get tavarez in the bullpen where he is of more value to them. that being said, if lester struggles at the minor league (or major league) level, tavarez is likely to keep his job. the way the sox are playing right now, there is simply no reason to rush lester.

I would say Julian still has a shot at keeping it. What I think the Red Sox will do is have Lester start a few games and see how he does. If he does good then they will stay with Lester if not then they will go back to Tavarez.
