How is it that Pitcher Lincecum can hurl a fastball 100mph?

He was a fictional character who was (supposedly) a super pitcher for the New York Mets. I forget the specifics, but he supposedly had a fastball well faster than anyone of the time or since.

An article was written about this "character" by George Plimpton, and appeared in Sports Illustrated as an April Fool's joke.

Will Red Sox win the World Series this year?

You mean wasn't.

Can Hot-Rod be stopped? #12 off of Schilling! Bada Bing!?

Why are shortstops called shortstops?

Sidd (short for Siddhartha) Finch was a legend. His fastball was so good -- clocked at 168 mph -- that he didn't need another pitch.

A sterling creation of fiction. Plimpton made a pretty entertaining novel out of his original article.
