if you want to slide on the inside of the base, that means that you are sliding closest to the mound. the outside of the base would be the side closest to the outfield or the stands if it is home plate. The inside of the base is the side closed to the pitchers mound, and farther away from the outfield. You slide to the inside by trying to hit the corner of the base on the inside of the field. You do this to avoid a tag when the throw is coming from the outfield. By sliding to the the inside the fielder making the tag, has farther to reach once he catches the ball.
instead of running straight at the bag run on the inside of the base line, i would recommend u slide head first so u can reach out with ur right hand and grab the bag. make sure not to over slide and go past the base.
Why can't the Mariners hang onto good players?
It would have to be a head-first slide to begin with. The inside of the bag is the pitcher's mound side (the left side).
You would want to keep your body to the left of the bag and then grab the base with your right hand on your way by, making sure not to slide past the base completely. If your sliding into home, of course, you don't need to worry about sliding past.
Note: Don't forget to call time before you get up and brush yourself off.
