How to throw a baseball fast.?
Question:I am trying to throw long distance (outfield to infield) and I would guess throwing fast helps with distance (aside from throwing at an angle).
What bodily mechanics would help me throw fast?

1. Take a baseball and get some black tape. Take the tape and wrap a line around the four seams. Make sure the tape is in the middle of the ball. Always practice throwing 4 seams to increase speed and accuracy!
2. Throwing Mechanics---
a. first grip the ball with fourseams--index and middle finger should be on the side of the tape and thumb is directly underneath ball. 4 seam
b. Now practice your motion---first take ball out of glove with thumb down and stop with hand facing second base.--glove arm is up parallel with ground. Make sure your feet are a little longer than shoulder width. Partner should be 10-15feet away. Once your in this postion, you just tuck front elbow down and arm should not be straight but slightly bent and just continues toward plate.
c. Make sure you release ball in front over your front foot. Make sure you also follow through--hand finishes down--think throwing through you target and not to it--and make sure hand then finishes touching your back lat-- and back is parellel to ground.
d. After getting this down--add in a step toward your partner and continue to improve mechanics--When throwing properly the line on the ball should be straight going toward your partner. using that taped ball will insure that you throw a proper 4seam ball--If you don't see the line you need to practice releasing the ball--with fingers snapppong straight down. you could practice this also by lying on your back and practcing snapping your fingers with the balls rotation with that straigth line.
Finally--continue to spreadout as you throw--If don't have the proper release of the ball and mechanics don't move back. Keep improving, make sure proper release of the ball, the harder and farther you will throw.

you have it backwards. usually you try to throw long distance to improve the velocity on your throws. and with the mechanics, it really depends on who you are but just make sure you get the ball above your head when you throw and make sure the ball leaves your hand right after the foot you step with, (left foot if your righty, right foot if your lefty) hits the ground.Who is your favorite mlb team?
