It's still too early to be asking or answering that question. His first outing was against Kansas City. I mean come on what luck to draw basically a Triple A team as your first start. Hes a good pitcher, but its not like hes unhittable. Just like any other pitcher, he'll throw some great games, but he'd also gonna get knocked around a bit pitching in the AL East. I believe he is.It is correct that we cannot base that on his 3 starts so far this season, but since he was a perennial All-Star in Japan, that certainly adds credibility.
Another poster said that he only looks good because he has faced bad teams, but Dice faced GREAT teams in the World Baseball Classic, and he did just as well there.
It's also important to consider that no Major League Baseball team, even a free-spending team like the Red Sox just throws money away. Even Japanese "imports" have a market value. After-all, Ichiro cost more than H. Matsui, and H. Matsui cost more than K. Matsui - and their stats reflect that. Dice cost more than all of them.
So yes, I believe Dice is for real.
PS: To the "#1 Red Sox fan" that said Dice is the best she's ever seen... she must not have been a fan when Clemens pitched for them.

I think without a doubt he is the real deal. I've noticed in the 2 games that he has a very live arm and his pitches have great movement on them plus he changes speeds on his pitches confusing the hitters.
